    2. Does anyone on list know when L.T. Powell operated a photography studio in Scottsville? I am trying to date a photograph and its difficult because of the nature of the setting. The people are sitting so their clothing doesn't provide many clues. The woman is wearing a shawl so the sleeves and skirt silhouette is not apparent. The man has a long flowing beard so the shirt collar is hidden. He is also sitting so the length of his jacket is deceiving. The photo was made outdoors, indicating smaller and lighter cameras that could be easily transported by the photographer - so definitely after 1860's. There is an oriental rug hanging behind them and a blanket with the wing of an eagle folded on the back of the woman's chair. I think this is an 1880-1900's photo, but would like to get a closer time period established. Any help would be appreciated. Sharon tabor **************Need a job? Find employment help in your area. 3. Levi Thomas Powell was in Scottsville by 1892, but I'm not certain when he moved there. In 1884 he had a photo gallery at Lucas, and in 1907 he was living in San Antonio, Texas. That was the year he won the championship cup of Texas Photographers, in Dallas. I'm not certain just when he went to Texas, but it was probably about 1900. He was the brother of my grandfather, John E. Powell. They also had a brother, Robert Powell, who patented the process that led to the invention of the poloroid camera.
