The following article was published in the Allen Co Historical Society Newsletter: Dec?? 1903 (or 2?) Franklin (KY) Tidbits PRESIDENT PULLIAM Mr. Henry Pulliam who was born and raised in Scottville, was last week made the whole thing in the National League of Baseball Clubs, the old and original position. He was elected president and secretary and treasurer, succeeding "Uncle Dick" Young, who has been at the head of baseball since it was organized professionally, thirty-two years ago. Mr. Pulliam began his career as baseball reporter on the old Louisville Commercial. He was subsequently news editor, city editor and managing editor. He was always a successful and capable newspaper man, but his health went back on him, and through the kindness of Dr. T. Hunt Stucky, then president of the Louisville baseball club, he was made secretary and traveled with the team. He proved a success and when Barney Dreyfuss secured the controlling interest in the club, Mr. Pulliam was made President. Later when Mr. Dreyfuss secured the Pittsburg team, he made Harry Pulliam his secretary, a position he held until his election the other day. --------------------- Does anyone know the parents of this Henry/Harry Pulliam? I can't seem to locate a Henry or Harry in Allen, Warren, Simpson, or Jefferson Co KY 1900 or later who was listed as a newspaper man in the census records. Sharon, if the Henry that was born in 1866 is the correct one, and William and Mary are his parents, I believe that William is the son of Henry Clay Pulliam born in Barren Co., Ky on Aug 12, 1806 and married to Martha Thomas in 1830.
