    1. [KYALLEN] Political Ancestors
    2. The election is just days away. I don't want this to become a political forum, but thought it might be interesting to post ancestral connections to former politicians you have found in your family search. So I am posting these rules : 1) Do not mention anyone currently running for office in this election at local, state, or national level 2) Do not mention any person mention currently serving in any position at the local, state or national level. That being said: My closest claim to political fame is 3 generations back on my maternal side. My ggrandmother's brother, John Washington Butler, served in the TN House of Representatives 1923-1927 He drafted a bill that passed by a huge majority. It was challenged and became a national sensation - the Scopes Monkey Trial. The other is on my paternal side - my dad's 3rd cousin was a war hero at Corigador and served as governor of IN in the 1970's - Edgar Doud Whitcomb, whose ggrandmother was a native of Allen Co KY - Sally Haines Hurt.
