    3. Sorry, I forgot a few items on George Waggoner which I meant to mention in my previous posting below.   George Waggoner's death record in Allen County states he died 17 Aug 1854 at 77 years, cause flux, born in Maryland, parents Leonard Wagner and mother (initial ) L... nothing else on her. That would give a birthdate of 1777.   In Orange County.. concerning that John King will... I found where George's brother John Waggoner in 1787 in Greene County sold 241 acres on Bolings Creek to Nathaniel King.  This adjoined John King's land and John King's will is dated 18 Nov 1807 in Orange County. where his estate was left to Charles Roberts and 10 gallons of whiskey to George Waggoner.   Also, the last tidbit is John Waggoner on Red Mountain in the 1832 letter was near Warrenton, NC.  where the letter was addressed to Red Mountain and Ephraim Roberts was bondsman to George and Sallie's marriage  in 1802 in Orange County.  Ephraim is a son of Charles Roberts, Jr and Frances Langston, Sallie's parents also.. I have a abstract of George's will in Allen in 1854 and the 1832 letter if anyone wants it.   I think that is about all I have on George before coming to Allen County. I am now through with my book.  LOL !   Marianne Dillow  --- On Fri, 11/14/08, marianne dillow <mdillow31@verizon.net> wrote: From: marianne dillow <mdillow31@verizon.net> Subject: Re: [KYALLEN] Wagoner Hollow To: kyallen@rootsweb.com Date: Friday, November 14, 2008, 2:26 PM Hi Pam,    I'm glad you found the location of Peter Waggoner. It's always great to find that record and location one has been looking for ages.  LOL !   On George Waggoner there is Leonard in the 1790 Orange County, NC census. I have seen Maryland also on other documents that George was born.  He marrie Sarah "Sallie" Roberts 13 Nov 1802 in Orange County, NC.   Some that I have corresponded with think George Waggoner and his father Leonard descend from Georg Ludwig Wagoner who came on the ship " Charming Nancy" in 1737 to  Philadelphia, Pa. but this is not proven, just speculation. :)   I finally located in the Library of Congress  and got a copy of a 1832 letter from George and Sarah (Sallie) to George's brother John Waggoner who stayed in NC with some of the Roberts clan. I posted that letter to the list but can do it again in case anyone is interested and wants to see it. It is a family letter. He had sent the letter to his brother John through Sen. Willie P. Persons, NC. and the letter was in Mangum's personal letters in the Library of Congress. I think I was lucky to find it and get a copy. It looks like George's brother John never got the letter.   In Orange County, NC, a John King left his estate to Charles Roberts, Jr. (the one who went to Logan County, Ky whhere he died in 1814. Frances (Langston) Roberts didn't die until ca 1840. There was a lot of court proceedings from 1814 to 1840  in Logan County due to Charles Robert's will named a son who was a minor and he died before the will was settled.    Also,  in Orange County there was a John King who left his estate to Charles Roberts, Jr and naming his sons who were later in Logan County and this John King left George Waggoner 10 gallons of whiskey.  LOL !  I don't know what the connection to John King is but have the record. John Waggoner lived where Red Mountain was located in Orange County but I think it is part of another county today.   That is where I am today. :)   Marianne Dillow     -- On Fri, 11/14/08, Pam Wagoner <wagonerp@ohsu.edu> wrote: From: Pam Wagoner <wagonerp@ohsu.edu> Subject: Re: [KYALLEN] Wagoner Hollow To: "kyallen@rootsweb.com" <kyallen@rootsweb.com> Date: Friday, November 14, 2008, 1:58 PM I have tracked George Waggoner because some of his descendants marry into my Waggoner/Wagoner lines. I'm not certain if George was really born in Orange county, NC because one of his sons, William Leonard Waggoner said in the 1880 census that his father was born in Maryland. Although the Ancestry 1850 census index says that George's birth state was Massachusetts, it looks more like Maryland to me, so I guess it's how you view it. My Peter Waggoner was listed as 45 and older in the 1810 census and over 45 in the 1820 census, so it's hard to come up with a range of birth years for him. No tombstone, will, or burial record exists for him, but the Allen county tax list shows Admin of Peter Waggoner about 1822/23 so that gives somewhat of a death year. The only child of Peter Waggoner to reach a census that gave birth locations for the parents of people listed was Martha Waggoner Wilson, wife of Ashley Jarrett Wilson. She reported that both her parents were born in Virginia. So.... So for all I know about everybody else, I know so little about Peter. That's why I'm thrilled with Wagoner Hollow. Pam
