    1. Re: [KYALLEN] : Center/Centers, Childress
    2. Peggy, I just found a reference to Willis Center first wife Elizabeth Childress a few weeks ago.? There is reference to a brother Bartholomew Childress?who died in AL?in a bio of W.A. Brown posted at www.allencountyky.com.? I followed some online references to Bartholomew Childress/Childers and no researches give sisters Nancy and Elizabeth - possibly because they were unknown to the online submitters.? I have posted queries on various lists with no responses yet.? I visited SC last week hoping to find reference to William and/or Thomas Childress.? There was a Thomas Childress in the same county as Jonathan Sr., Jonathan Jr, Starling/Sterling, and Samuel Senter/Sentell in the 1790-1810 SC Census.? Most people give a William Childers/Childress as the father of Bartholomew, but no one has provided a source of reference for that information.? I didn't find anything I was looking for.? The bio of W.A. Brown mentions that Nancy Terrell Childress was born in SC, and walked from GA to KY.? If she came with her sister and brother/in/law Willis and Elizabeth Childress Center to KY that would mean that Elizabeth and Willis came from GA to KY.? That also makes since because John Senter, son of Jonathan Senter/Sentell who died 1792 in Edgefield Co SC migrated to GA.? I have not found Willis Center in any records prior to 1817 land records in Allen County.? My theory is that Willis was a son of Buckner Center who died Warren Co NC, and a brother of Freeman Center/Senter who settled in Sumner Co TN, with Buckner being an older son of Jonathan by an unknown wife.? Jonathan Senter migrated from Brunswick Co VA to Warren Co NC to Edgefield Co SC.? My theory is based partly on the fact that the only 2 Center/Senter families in the entire US between 1780-1930 with the given names of Sterling/Starling and Guilford is the son and grandson of Jonathan Senter/Sentell of SC and Willis Center of Allen County.? Willis died 1858 in Allen County, but I am not at the right computer now to pull the documentation for you. 3. Hi All, My wife's direct lines include: Johnson, Stovall, Weaver, Goodrum, Kirby, Harmon, Garner, Motley, Wiltherspoon, Rickman, Nichols ... I would like to thank Sharon for all her hard work and if it wasn't for her sharing her father's work many years ago, I may not have caught the bug. I started out added names to my wife's direct lines and expanded. I have expanded to connecting all the lines from this area of KY, mostly looking at Allen County KY. It seems that we all connect in one way or another and some many times over. I started back with a few names and now have over 145,000 in my database, not all from Allen County, many from KY, NC, SC, VA ... I can never get enough. I add info. every day from the Daily News obits, can always seem to find a connection. Many others have also helped me over the years by e-mails and internet posting. My database is from the hard work of other that I've input in one file. I know many of you on this list, we have exchanged e-mails and info. I thank you all for sharing! When I see your names it takes me back to when we exchange family info., pictures, and stories of the past and present. Please keep in-touch. I think this is a great list and thank you all! Tom Kiska Wilton, CT I welcome all e-mails and always glad to exchange info. on connecting lines. 1. Re: [KYALLEN] (no subject) - marriages across state lines
    2. Sweeny, You will find many couples from Allen and Simpson Co KY who married in Sumner Co KY and vice versa.? The reasons could have been any of the following: 1) They eloped and didn't want anyone at the courthouse or in the county?to know they tied the knot until it was a done deal - the grapevine traveled faster than phones 2) They eloped and didn't want anyone at the courthouse or in the county?to know they tied the knot until it was a done deal.- the grapevine traveled faster than phones 3) repeat of the above :) 4) One of the couple ?had friends or family in the area 5) It was closer to one courthouse than the other You will also find couples that crossed the county lines from Allen into Warren, Barren, Simpson, Monroe, etc to marry and the reverse. -----Original Message----- From: june <hjfore@windstream.net> To: kyallen@rootsweb.com Sent: Thu, 29 Jan 2009 10:39 am Subject: [KYALLEN] (no subject) My parents went across the line from Sumner County into Allen county in 1932 to be married.
