I thought perhaps you had some information on Eliza and James Costlow that would break me thru my brickwall....I do know that Alex and his family stayed in Allen Co. until the 1870 and then went to Logan Co. Ky.....I thought perhaps you had some information on James and Eliza ( Simmons ) Costlow and their children's names----seems like this Costlow family brothers named their children after the other brothers....Any help would be greatly appreciated.. 1. Re: [KYALLEN] Roll Call - Chambers
    2. The Chambers family I belong to was in Allen Co for a short time. Thomas Chambers of Rockingham Co NC came to Allen Co Ky about 1810 . He died about 1823 Allen Co. His first wife was Phoebe who died sometime before 1810. Their children were: 1) Elinor 'Nellie" Chambers m. Charles Hancock 1807 Rockingham Co NC and migrated to Allen, Simpson and Hancock Co KY 2) unknown male 3) Lucy Chambers who m. Thomas Oliver 1819 Allen Co KY and migrated to Maries & Gascounde Co MO. Two of their children (John Shelby Oliver and Thomas C. Oliver) returned to Allen Co. 4) William Chambers m. Sallie McReynolds 1825 Allen Co and migrated to Hickman Co KY and maybe then to KS - he is an ignima 5) Lucinda Chambers m. 1) Frederick Carpenter 1822 Sumner Co TN and 2) Leonard Kirby 1853 Allen Co KY Thomas Chamber's 2nd wife was Francis. Their children were: 6) Frederick Chambers m. Matilda Sutton 1830 Allen Co KY and migrated to Green Co MO 7) Jincy Chambers m. Richard Horn 1833 Logan Co KY and migrated to Cass & Saline Co MO. One son Rev. George Washington Horn was a prominient Methodist Espiscal bishop and another son Givens Horn road with Quantrill's Raiders during the Civil Worn (as did the James Brothers and Younger Brothers who became infamous outlaws). Givens returned to Henry Co KY and taught school the reminder of his life. George W. Horn's son Paul Winfield Horn graduated college at age 16 and was the first president of what is now Texas Tech University. The only Chambers descendants of this family in Allen Co are those who descend from daughters Elinor Chambers Hancock and Lucy Chambers Oliver. Sorry we don't have a connection. 3. I am always disappointed when someone requests to have a reply to a query sent to a personal mailbox...you never know when a connection to your family may be included in a seemingly unrelated answer.  I feel left out of the loop.   Dee Jo Lee --- On Thu, 1/29/09, fmlytracer@aol.com <fmlytracer@aol.com> wrote: From: fmlytracer@aol.com <fmlytracer@aol.com> Subject: [KYALLEN] Postings To: kyallen@rootsweb.com Date: Thursday, January 29, 2009, 8:31 AM Folks, Undoubtedly some of you are subbed to some email lists that discourage postings.?? Some email list?subbers complain their email boxes get cluttered with too many messages.? At the risk of offending some on this list, my response is "That is what the delete key is for".? I delete tons of emails on a daily basis if they don't pertain to me, but sometimes the subject just might be the answer to one of my questions. I do not mind any emails that come through this list if the family names are part of Allen County and/or it's parent counties of Warren, Barren, and breakoff county of Simpson.? And frankly, I prefer?messages to be posted to the email list so the information can be archived for future reference.? Unlike most email lists such as SOKY, anyone interested in Allen Co can go to the Rootsweb.com website, look for the County email list and search?postings for the past 10 years.? There just might be a posting that?was archived?before someone subbed to the list, or a new family name one has just linked to, that might be valuable information. Many times a tidbit of information posted will lead someone to? discover the crack in their brick wall and/or connect to a "cousin" they didn't know existed.? I am not territorial about information nor am I an advocate for postings only by particular people.? I am about sharing, and that is what this email list and any other email list was intended to be, although some lists have changed in their mission over the years.? In all the years of managing this list, I've only had one complaint about postings.?There are over 125 people subbed to this list and it surprises me how few postings occur. And to be blunt, if you don't want to receive emails, then you can unsub from this list by sending an email to kyallen-request@rootsweb.com with the subject heading "unsubscribe".? I want people on this list who are willing to share and correspond with others, and if that is not what you are looking for, then this may not be the list you want to belong to. All I ask is: 1) if the subject of the email content changes from the original message (i..e. Grinstead Cemetery to Hardcastle family), then change the subject heading in the email so those who aren't interested can delete the message prior to opening it if the message does not pertain to their family search.? It is misleading for someone to think a message concerns a Cemetery and instead it's about a particular family and vice versa. 2) the messages pretain to genealogical and/or family research?topics. If you find a website that is helpful, share it.? If you have a research hint, post it.? If you are able to break down a brick wall, share it.? There is nothing more joyful that finding that elusive answer after years of hunting. 3. Sharon,    As I hit my delete button I think I saw the name "Chambers" as part of your roll call list. When you hit the "Reply to" on your email, change the subject to include ?your family names.? That allows anyone not interested in your particular family branch to delete that email.?
