    2. Great, thanks! There was (I believe) a Sarah Caldwell Goodrum whose Dad was David Caldwell. She had a brother named Jonathan Hardy Caldwell (who I am a descendent from) and I cant find much about him. Supposedly he shot and killed his wife and then himself about 1893. Sarah married into the Goodrum family and I was hoping that maybe one of the Goodrum's would know something about their gggguncle? -----Original Message----- From: FmlyTracer@aol.com To: kyallen@rootsweb.com Sent: Tue, 10 Apr 2007 6:53 AM Subject: Re: [KYALLEN] GoodrumsA In a message dated 4/9/2007 11:30:31 P.M. 3. Hi, My battery was running low and I had to send my previous email very quickly to you. I have listed in Sumner Co., Tn. (I have been to the court house one time)..... Mary Edy Caldwell , Sarah Caldwell ( 1813-), David Y. Caldwell (1816-), Martha Rebecca Caldwell, Hardy Caldwell, Jr. (1824-). I don't know if I am reading the chart right from a Hardy cousin but the ones above are listed as #4 and with William ( 1807) and Elizabeth Caldwell born in Va. 1805).It appears they all descend from Seth Caldwell and wife Elizabeth Hardy that I mentioned in my previous email. Hope this helps. Please let me know if any of this rings a bell. I can't believe Jonathan Hardy Caldwell is a coincidence. 2. In a message dated 4/7/2007 11:58:47 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, Don_Burris@msn.com writes: www.bgdailynews.net Don, Thank you for the update. Unfortunately, without a subscription to the Daily News, 7 days archived is all anyone can read the online version of the paper. I found a letter to the editor doing an Archives search, but not the article The combination of land development and people who have no interest in ancestral search makes this a prevalent issue nation wide. Thank goodness for people who are interested enough to track down family plots on private land and inventory the information. Unfortunately, there is an old graveyard on my uncle's land in Allen Co which he allowed hogs and cattle to demolish the fencing and stones, and no one in the family who lives locally has been interested in recovering the plot - and I live too far away. Fortunately, the headstones were inventoried and recorded by Martha Jackson before the damage was too extreme. Thank you for your interest and information. 3. For all on the Allen Co., site; About 10 weeks ago, I was surfing the web and hit upon a posting from a lady that had recently been to Warren Co., and doing what we like best, hands on research. Unfortunately, she went to visit one of two cemeteries that had "Family" buried in them. To her horror, BOTH sites had been totally desecrated and, she found 6 stones from one site standing up against a tree. Both cemeteries had been removed with one having a home and grazing cattle and the other had been bladed under for farming. I was next stunned by the fact that I had Family buried at both sites and proceeded to hit the roof about it. I emailed a cousin (Not Related to the families of those buried there) and he proceeded to start making calls. This cousin, Bob Cron, began getting the typical run around as in "It's not our job", call some one else. Bob thusly started calling every legal agency in Warren County, then by calling State officials about this type of situation and, was told by the Attorney General, Bob Stump, that his office does not and will not approach this and told to call the local law enforcement. They in turn said that it was not their jurisdiction and to call the County Attorney......................You guessed it, not theirs to handle. After dozens of emails to every State Representative, Attorney General a second time, he finally got copies of the laws posted. After all of this has trickled down to a couple of positive responses from a local State Rep. who in turn is looking into this. I personally have sent emails and a couple of letters to "Authorities" with no response. I guess that my living in Arizona leaves me with no clout other than the fact that my entire family lines are from Kentucky and, 19 Surnames are located in Warren Co., alone. 3 are from Allen county. One question that I must ask is how many people spend time in Kentucky doing Genealogy research at the Filson Club, State Historical Society, Every County Courthouse, Graves, and foremost for some, The Western Kentucky University Genealogy library??? At this point, we're talking millions of tourist dollars being spent in Kentucky, and we know that this can be an expensive hobby! What totally sets me off regarding this matter is that many of these same officials surely have family buried in these county cemeteries. I'm not certain how many are in Allen Co., but Warren Co., has between 500 and 1000 of these cemeteries. How many of you out there have family in one of theses cemeteries and how many more are being desecrated daily in Kentucky??? The Bowling Green Daily News has finally opened up to this problem and did a feature story on it last week and you can visit that site on www.bgdailynews.net<http://www.bgdailynews.net/> . Also, there have been some letters posted on the Opinion page. It has stirred up a hornets nest but needs many more to email or, write to your state rep. and make noise. The results from the site with the stones found by a tree are being resolved with the property owner, that did NOT remove the stones, and with family members of the George Flora family buried there. The stones are being cleaned and reset by a monument co., and the owner is willing to fence and protect the area. A dedication stone will be erected by the road as well. Some things do have a happy ending. Please, get involved in some way to protect these sites and protect them for the future.
