"R. R. "Pete" Walker, prominent newspaper executive, is dead at 45. Walker, a veteran Democratic political worked, died Sunday at a hospital here. [21 Oct 1973]. A native of Columbia, Ky., he was a partner in Waggener-Walker Newspapers, Inc., a firm that owns 17 weeklies in Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee. Walker was a former member of the national committee of the Young Democratic Clubs of America and in 1959 was named by the Democratic National Committee as one of the ten outstanding Young Democrats in the nation.
