I just wonder if the 1850 Leander and the 1860 Lee may be two different persons. The children in 1850 (Margaret, Jane and James) are not found in the 1860 census with Lee and Mary. Margaret may have been married but Jane and James are unlikely to have been. I don't know enough about that family to comment. It could be that disease took Nancy and the children or she may have taken the children if there was a divorce. It would need further investigation. I never trust what is recorded in records since I've seen so many discrepancies in my research, esp with regards to age. It seems that people either had sketchy knowledge of their birthdate or they just chose a number when asked their age. The Benjamin on page 24 of Adair 1850 that you mentioned is certainly yet another NC Coomer. Benjamin Berry Coomer is listed on page 52, 21 yrs old and still living with William and Lavisa. He married 5 years later in 1854 at age 26. I wish I could be of more assistance all this. I have recently decided that I need to collect all that I can from all the Coomers with Stokes/Adair connections so I can have a database for comparison.
