Can anyone tell me why I find so many Timoleon and Milton given names in Adair Co.? Is there some local historical reason so many people in the mid 1800's used those names? A bit before and after the Civil War? I find that I am related to all CALHOUN's in Adair Co. from about 1830 to 1900's. I am looking for any information or records that might help me establish kinships. I have quite a bit of information, but am trying to hook up my grandfather Kirt/Kurk/Kurt/Kirk CALHOUN b. Feb.18,1878 in Adair, to the correct CALHOUN father. Kirt CALHOUN is said to have left home at a young age on bad terms, he died at age 42 in TX, and he left almost no paper trail. He should be in the 1880 Adair or Russell Co. census, but I don't find him under that name. There should be a birth certificate but so far I haven't been able to find one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
