Asborn who posted a message on this website on 31 May 2001 at 1:05 p.m. - but now I can't find it!!! Anyhow, she asked about her grandmother, Nancy Elizabeth Miller's family. Per the 1870 Census, Nancy had at least two more siblings: James G. Miller, b. abt 1860; and Joseph A. Miller, b. abt 1862. Nancy's paternal grandparents were Alexander Miller (abt 1780 in VA - Bef 1860 - KY) & Frances Waggener (b. abt 1790 in VA, d. aft 1860) - they married 3 Sept. 1806. Alexander's parents were Joseph Miller Sr. (29 July 1753, Amherst Co., VA - 11 June 1838, Adair Co., KY) and his first wife, Elizabeth Montgomery who died before 1796 - they married about 1779. My place in this scheme of things is Joseph Sr.'s daughter, Martha (Patsey) Miller, b. aft 1784 in KY(?) - d. before 1823, who m. Bannister Malone on 13 Aug 1804. Hope this makes some sense. Pat H.

Rachael Bryant married Peter DeMoss (I have as the son of Peter DeMoss the RW vet and husband of Mary Mellinger). They move to Ohio where Peter dies. Rachael moves back to KY with children and marries Dominicus Conover/Covenhoven (from NJ also a RW vet). Nancy Bryant marries Charles DeMoss who must be related somehow to the other DeMoss's but I still can't connect him to anyone. George Bryant marries Sarah DeMoss and they move to Morgan and Perry County Indiana. Plenty of descendants there!! There are many groups of Bryant's in Kentucky and Tennessee. They all must connect somehow, but it's all a big knot and no one seems to be able to untangle it. Janice

Dear Nancy, I have a fair amount of information about your grandmother�s sister, Frances Ellen (Fannie) Miller. She married James Rowan Holladay in 1870 in Adair County. James Rowan was the son of Joseph Holladay and Sarah J. (Sally) Reynolds. James Rowan Holladay married Frances Ellen Miller in 1870. They had 13 children, all born in Adair County, and 11 survived to adulthood. Their two oldest sons went West and ended up in southeastern Oregon. In the early 1900�s, James Rowan moved the rest of his family to Drewsey in Harney County, Oregon. James Rowan Holladay died in 1917 and Frances Ellen died in 1947. Both are buried in Drewsey Cemetery. I can mail you a group sheet on this family or send it to you as a GEDCOM file, if you like. Incidentally, I am descended from Joseph Holladay�s brother, William. They were sons of Zacharias Holladay and Catherine (Kitty) Anderson, and I am compiling information about them and their descendants. I have heard the Elizabeth Hardin (Harden) theory also, along with another marriage to a woman named Mary Owsley. Do you know who the Elizabeth DeMoss is who marries a John Bryant in Knox Co Ky 9 May 1811? Assuming for the moment that this marriage is valid at all, it opens an interesting thought. I am a DeMoss and this DeMoss line goes to an, as yet, unconnected Peter DeMoss and Mary Mellinger (that is, unconnected to Peter's parents and unconnected to my line, though I strongly suspect they are). But the Elizabeth DeMoss who marries a John Bryant (according to the above mentioned marriage) is connected to my line....hmmm. These DeMosses spend some time in Knox Co Ky, then on to Orange Co Indiana for most of the family, but Elizabeth is in Adair Co Ky at her death. Nancy Bryant and Charles DeMoss and Rachel Bryant and Peter DeMoss marry in Adair Co Ky, and Nancy dies in Iowa and is buried in Cass Co Indiana and Charles dies and is buried in Cass Co Indiana. There's a bunch of big question marks for me here. Thanks for your reply.
