my burk line comes from va. and eventually to adair co. (1870-1890"s). in 1860 census they were in clinton co. the burk family lived near leatherwood district..a small white church on greenbriar road marks part of the property they owned. there are some stones marking a graveyard of some members of this family. anderson and elmira (nunn) burk were the parents of james w., william p., amanda e., margaret, joseph, cager, and wesley burk. the children were born from 1845-1860. my gr-grandfather was joseph. he and his brother mcajah(cager) are buried in jefferstown cem. in louisville, ky. amanda was married to a tom shackleford, and moved to indianapolis. she is buried there. no idea on where marg., james, and william are. wesley married mary grissom in 1868, and had at least 5 children they were born from 1869-1880 ( lavada, matilda, dollie, george w. and william a. ) wesley a. burk and family are found in union co. ky in the 1870-1880 census. after that they disappear. are there any grissoms that may know of what happened to the wesley and mary j. (grissom) burk family? tom burk

Donnie, Received email from Pat Hollingsworth stating that it is her understanding that the James Clayton Bryant whose wife was Susan Deener was the son of James Bryant and Ellen Powell and that he was born 18 Dec. 1832/34. She further states that James, son of James, appears as James C. in 1870, 1880,1900 & 1910, as well as cemetery records as James C. From these facts, it appears rather certain that your James Clayton Bryant is son of James Bryant and Ellender Powell. James being the son of John & Elizabeth Bryant. Looking for a marriage between Zachary or Zachariah T. Harvey and Mary Harper 1867. Zachariah and Mary were the parents of Thomas Harvey according to Thomas's marriage and death certificate. I really don't think this Polly is the mother of Martha and perhaps not Emily, either.
