Married Mary ??, dates for here birth and death are unknown. Children: John Rose, Jr.*; Isaiah Rose, Levi Rose John Rose, Jr. was born in 1770 in Burke Co., NC and died in May 1850 in Russell Co., VA. The 1850 Russell County, VA Federal Mortality Schedule notes he died at the age of 80 from gravel--which means he died from Kidney stones. He is buried in Dickenson Co., Va on Caney Ridge in Vance Cemetary. (*Note: This part of Dickenson Co. VA was Russell Co., VA until 1880.) Married Mary Stafford, born abt. 1767, place unknown. Date of was abt. 1785, and date of her is death unknown. Children: Rebecca Rose (Green), born 1792 in NC, married John Green--listed in 1850 Russell Co., VA Census, Family #435, occupation: wheelwright Elias John Rose, born 1796 in NC; married Nancy Hill in 1816. She was born abt. 1800 in NC and died abt. 1873. Her father was Swinfield Hill, born bet. 1770/1780, in Burke Co., NC. Samuel Rose, born in 1804 in NC; married Margaret Cantrell. Listed in 1850 Census for Russell Co., VA-Family #437 Wilson Rose*, born in 1807 in Burke Co., NC and died in 1889 in Dickenson Co., VA. He married Virginia "Jennie" Jane Vance bet. 1825-1827 in NC. She was born abt. 1808 in TN and died bet. 1860-1864 in Wise Co., VA. She is listed on the Wise Co., VA Census for 1860, but on 10 JAN 1865, Wilson Rose married his second wife, Bethany Mullins. Virginia Vance's father was Samuel Vance. Her mother was Cherokee and her name is unknown. (Some sources say she was called "Morning Star"). Virginia's brother was David Vance. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Rose, daughter of Wilson's brother, Elias Rose. *NOTES: Wilson Rose was said to be a Baptist minister. He is buried on Cooper Ridge near Caney Creek in Dickenson Co. Children of Wilson and Virginia "Jennie" Vance Rose are: John "Buck John" Rose, born abt. 1829. Married Caroline Salyer. He was killed during the Civil War in the Cranesnest Battle in Dickenson Co., VA. Robert "Robin" Vance Rose, born May 1, 1829 in Burke Co., NC; died May 29, 1897 in VA. Hannah Rose, born 1849 (*See Note below) Emanuel Rose, born in 1853 in Russell Co., VA; married Mary Ann Green Samuel "Big Sam" Rose, born 1849 in Russell Co., VA (Twin to Hannah ?), married Martha Rose on January 5, 1871 in Wise Co., VA. Children of Wilson Rose and Bethany Mullins are: Julia A Rose, born 1866 in Wise Co., VA; married Madison Captain Kelsey Ray on October 17, 1878 in Wise Co., VA. Mary A. Rose, believed to have died in infancy. *NOTE: Henderson Rose, age 1 year, is listed in the Wilson Rose household on the 1850 Census. However, it is believed that Henderson Rose was the child of #1242 Polly Rose because in the 1860 Census Polly Rose had married William Scarbury and Henderson Rose is listed in the Scarbury household.
