I can't help with your families, but I looked up Spa in my book of Kentucky County Maps (a great resource!) If you take Highway 431 north out of Russellville for about ten miles, you will come to Highway 106; take a left there and go for about three miles along that road and you will arrive in Spa! It is in the northwestern part of Logan County. It is near Stuart, which looks a bit larger (but not much) and there is a Spa Lake nearby. Hope this helps.
