Looking for info of my ggg gf Richard (Dickey) Davis. Some say he came from VA. We know he was in KY by 1807 because he married Patty Dunbar of Antrim, Ireland in that year. Evidently soon afterwards they moved to adjoining Caldwell Co for their first son was born there in 1808. Here is my dilemma. Records show Richard's birthdate as 1737 or 1747, died 1829. That would have made him either 70 or 60 years old when he married. There is another Richard Davis who lived across the Tradewater River in adjoining Hopkins County. Could the birthdates we have for my Richard actually belong to the one across the river. We don't have birthdates on the Hopkins County Richard but do know that he was called Old Richard. There are land records of transactions between the two Richards but the younger Richard was not in the will of the older one. Could this be son and father? Does anyone know of this family? Any information would be appreciated and I will gladly share what I have with you.
