I am researching my gr grandfather Smith R Turner, Sr. According to some military records he was b. Dec. 1824 in Ky. Parents unknown. At some point in time he moved to Mo, either alone or with family, not sure. He served in the Mexican War for 13 months. He ended up in Arizona and m. Seferina LaMadrid in Nov 1873 and she died the following day. He had a son named Pablo who was b. in 1871 so he is probably Seferina's child. He then m. Lucinda Ramirez in 1874 and had the following children: Lucinda b. 1874, Polixna (son) b. 1875, Smith R., Jr. b. 1877. They divorced in 1880 and remarried in 1884 the year my grandfather Robert Ramirez Turner was born. There may have been other children but I have no record of them so far. Smith R, Sr. died in Los Angeles in 1902 at the Old Soldiers Home and is buried in the Los Angeles National Cemetery. I have a copy of Smith R., Jr's death certificate and it says the his father's name was "Ribert". This is probably a typo considering all of the Roberts in the family, my father included. My father's name was Robert Smith Turner. According to the dates I have my gr grandfather would have been 50 years old when he married my gr grandmother Lucinda so I am guessing he may have been married before. He is unaccounted for between 1850 and 1871. Anyone have any lost Smith Turner's? Thanks, Roberta Turner Capello
