    1. Re: [KY-ROLLCALL] Everage or Eldridge
    2. The McLendon's
    3. Hi Jim, I just discovered my Aldridge/Eldridge, and someone sent me a history of Aldridge/Arledge with all different spellings for it. Then I sent for two different children's death certs and they both had different spellings, so I am still working on her. One person told me her father's name was James, whose father may have been Levi, b. 1736 in N.J., but can't prove anything .. another person told me her father was Joshua who came from Virginia, so you can see I am not getting anywhere at all. Too many James and so on. I am still trying to run down a third and forth child which again may not be any help at all if I can even find them. 1. [KY-ROLLCALL] "A Family Registry of the Descendants of Edward Farmer"
    2. Toni Farmer
    3. The book arrived yesterday ~ John Farmer's "A Family Registry of the Descendants of Edward Farmer", that is. There is NO Stephen descending from Oliver, son of Edward. Edward's son, Oliver, was married to Abigail Johnson on January 24, 1717. Their children were: Abigail, Abigail, Mary, Sarah, Betty, Rebecca, Oliver, Isabella, Edward and John. John Farmer, son of Oliver, married Hannah Davis, January 5, 1764. Their children: Hannah, Rebecca, Abigail, Polly, John, Lucy, John and Hannah. I won't tell you that Stephen DOESN'T descend from Edward Farmer! I don't know, yet...but he does NOT descend in the manner which is (hinted at) in the book, "Pioneer's of Leslie County". Due to the familiarity of names, I would think it is an excellent possibility that Stephen descended from Edward SOME WHERE along the line. Concerning the aforementioned book, remember the author merely "tossed that out" and everyone accepted it as fact without doing their homework.... I have had MANY postings concerning Stephen over the last 4 months. Here is what can be proven with court documents and tax records ~ with no supposition by me: Stephen was born circa 1765 in Hawkins County, Tennessee Stephen married Nancy Russell Stephen died circa 1830 in CLAIBORNE COUNTY, Tennessee Stephen was in Grayson County, Virginia (next door to Ephraim Osborn) in 1793, and was a single man. Stephen was in (present day) Harlan County, Kentucky in 1794 ~ 1824 (when he deeded his 481 acre plantation to one of his grandsons). Stephen had SEVEN children that we are sure of (tho there may have been others). Stephen was a land surveyor by trade. Stephen also owned land in present day Knox County, Pulaski County and Lee County, Kentucky. Stephen was a Baptist by faith. PLEASE! Do not post to me and tell me WHAT information you have. I feel that the information from the book "Pioneer's of Leslie County" was garnered from the "Compendium of English People in America" which is available at MOST libraries. PLEASE! Do not post to me to tell me WHERE you got your information ~ because, in John Farmer's own words (and sometimes, his own handwriting) he is NOT the father of Stephen Farmer. (At least, not the JOHN FARMER, son of Oliver, son of Edward.) PLEASE! Call your local library and ask for the book by John Farmer (1813) on "inter library loan" as I did. It is on microfilm at a library in Virginia, so it must in a dozen OTHER places. I will gladly answer ANY and ALL of your questions concerning Stephen Farmer and Nancy Russell, if I know the answer. If not, I won't "suggest" or "throw out" to mislead. Sincerely, Toni Farmer

    1. [KY-ROLLCALL] Not too much on Richard...but a bit on his daughter.....
    2. Toni Farmer
    3. Richard Davis (the Revolutionary War Veteran) married ? and had at least two daughters, Sarah and Nancy.... Sarah married (?) Dillon Asher, and they had a son, Josiah.... Josiah Asher married Elizabeth Hendrickson and they had son, John H. Hendrickson.... all of that is from the 1850 Harlan County Census... In his Will, Dillon states that he wishes to 'legitimize' his children by Sarah Davis. The list: Polly Amis, Wilkerson Asher, Jackson Asher, James Farmer Asher, and Chester Asher... He further states that his children by his "lawful wife" are: William B. Asher, Orrah Roberts, Robert Asher, John Asher, Peggy Farmer, Elizabeth Asher and Peggy Asher.... so, it doesn't appear that Sally was a wife... Unless I am mistaken, his WIFE was Nancy DAVIS and Sarah DAVIS was her sister.... I haven't "run down" the Davis' ~ they aren't my line, except for Margaret (Peggy) Asher Farmer.... but I have some Harlan County Census and Dillon's Will.... Let me know how I can assist you further... Toni
