    3. Dear List Members: If you are unsubscribed from the list, and it is not what you wanted, just re-subscribe yourself. If for some reason your address bounced several times, at no fault of your own, the system removes your address from the list. So if you see it happening to you all you have to do is re-subscribe yourself or send me a message and I will take care of it for you. Please be careful and DO NOT OPEN ANY MAIL WITH AN ATTACHMENT unless you are 100% sure you know what it is and even then run a virus scan. You cannot get a virus through the Rootsweb mailing list, but you can receive it from members of the list who's computer system has a virus. As soon as I know one of our members has a virus I unsubscribe them until they can clean their system. Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns as to his list or suggestions for the benefit of all the members. Contact me personally please KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net For your enjoyment, this link was sent to me to share with you. It is another fun map - and shows when areas of the country were included in a US Census. http://www.segenealogy.com/sgo03.htm Thank you for your support. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

In the 1850 Census of McCracken County he was listed as 39 years old and born in Virginia. They had a son named John Rice Collier born 04 February, 1845. I am trying to find any more information about William and Nancy. Can anyone help? Thanks, Mark A. Collier

    1. Re: [KY-ROLLCALL] Kentucky Turners
    2. Marian Dunlap
    3. There was a Jesse TURNER who bought some land in Bourbon Co KY from James RAY (my 4th Great) in the late 1790's, before Nicholas Co was formed from Bourbon. He apparently died young, for in 1803 there is an entry that Francis RAY (my 3rd Great) was appointed guardian to Sarah, Peggy, Jas., Robt., and Elizabeth TURNER, infant orphans of Jesse TURNER, dec'd. Sureties, Wm. HENRY and Robt. HAMILTON. As you probably know, the fact that these children were listed as "orphans" does not necessarily mean that their mother was also dead. It was just that women weren't allowed to be guardians, etc. back then. My RAY family came into Kentucky in the late 1780's from Rowan Co NC, and they are in the 1790 census, which was made up from tax lists for 1788 and 1789. We do not know whether there was a relationship between the TURNERS and the RAYS, or whether Francis was appointed because they were neighbors. There is a historical society in Nicholas Co. Don't know whether they might have any additional help for you or not. Marian Ray Dunlap

    1. [KY-ROLLCALL] Kentucky Turners
    2. Bobbi Capello
    3. I am researching the Turner family of Kentucky. My great grandfather Smith R. Turner b. approx. 1830 states he was born in Kentucky and his parents in Va. I have found a Smith Turner in Clark cnty in 1800, Adair County 1820, Russell County in 1830 and 1840. Obviously, having been born about 1830 the 1800-1820 listing would not be him but perhaps a father or grandfather. I also found a Ky Land grant for a Smith Turner in Cumberland Cnty 1806. I know the two Smith Turners he is not... 1. Smith Turner son of Rueben and Orena (Tatum) Turner. Although I do think he may be from the same family. 2. The other is Smith Turner who settled in Missouri. Their ages would be approx. right but my great grandfather lived in Arizona from at least 1873-1884 during which time I have marriage licenses and birth dates of children. He is still shown as a land owner in Ariz. in 1891. Is anyone else researching any Turners in Kentucky or maybe run across any place I might find info. I also don't know what the "R." his middle initial stands for. He had a son Smith R. Turner, Jr. and another son Robert and my father was Robert Smith Turner so Robert may be another common family name. Thank you, Roberta Turner Capello (Bobbi) yep I was named after my father :-)

    1. [KY-ROLLCALL] From List Mom - Please Read - Regarding Living Persons
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members: I just want to take a moment to remind you that you should never give information on living persons in your messages without their permission or the permission of their parents if they are children. The most important reason for this is the right to privacy. You also need to remember that anything you post goes into the archives of that list and stays there. It cannot be removed but it can be copied and added to any ones site out there in the world of the internet. This may not seem real important, but I promise it will become so when you are surfing the web one day and come across a site with your children's names, grandchildren's names, where they live and how old they are. I continue to thank you for your support. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    1. [KY-ROLLCALL] FROM LIST MOM - First Quarter Report - 2001
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, here it is, time for the First Quarterly Report for 2001. Can you believe how fast the time has passed? Please take note of my new e-mail address, kathleenburnett@earthlink.net and change your address books, the old efortress.com account will be closed by the end of the month. The KY-ROLLCALL Mailing List has 262 members, 180 on the Regular list and there are 82 members on the Digest List. If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/. Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fuller's Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search. Just a reminder so this list is better for each of us the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc. (in other words - spam) is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at kathleenburnett@earthlink.net There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 2. If you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line it might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 4. The wonderful relationship that develops between list members is also one of a Mailing Lists Problems. I encourage you to respond to the entire list with genealogical responses, you never know who your response will help. In the same thought I would like to ask you to not respond to the entire list with personal responses. Such as the first message from a members says Says "Happy Birthday John" and then John says "Thank you" and then about 60 of our members also send "Happy Birthday John". This is what I mean by personal messages. Just keep in mind anything is ok to be posted as long as it has to do with the subject of the list. If you have a doubt ask me. kathleenburnett@earthlink.net I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and yourwillingness to help make this list the success it is. 1. [KY-ROLLCALL] Mildred R. Mitchell married John H. Jones Bourbon Co., KY 1836
    2. Kathleen
    3. Family Research, such an exciting experience. I just was given a clue that my John H. Jones of Bourbon Co., KY married a Mildred R. MITCHEL Nov. 13, 1836. Up untill now all that was known was "Mildred". About the same time a John H. Jones Jr. was married also in Bourbon Co., KY. Sooo this leads me to believe that maybe Mildred R. Mitchel was a second marriage for John H. Jones and maybe even for Mildred, she was 29 and he was about 49. Do any of you have a Mildred R. Mitchel b. about 1807 in KY in your Mitchel or Mitchell database. One who was a Mitchel or Mitchell daughter or a widow of a Mitchel or Mitchell? Kathleen Burnett
