Was Elizabeth an Owen or Owens before or after she married your gr gr grandfather?
Before,I've always wondered about her name because it is listed as ELIZABETH OWENS THOMAS on some things and ELIZABETH OWENS on other stuff.I have found her mother to be a SARAH THOMAS and living with her and ALLAN in the 1880 census.Thank you,Linda

I do not know if this will help but there was Ellis families living in Bourbon Co, ky in the 1800-1830 census. also they were listed in Carroll Co, in the 1850 Census. Might be worth a try.
