Hello AGAIN!!! Well.....I'm "flumixed"!! Shoot-a-mule if google.com don't say Smithville became the Brunswick Co. seat in 1808 ( the co. seat was moved to Bolivia in 1975). Then....Smithville became Southport in 1887. Doggone if Southport ain't in the SE corner of Brunswick Co. on the Ocean. Fort Johnston, near-by was active in every U.S. war effort. Theodore Hicks appears in the ROSTER OF NORTH CAROLINA TROOPS IN THE WAR WITH MEXICO, prepared by authority of the Legislator of 1887 by Brig. Gen. Johnston jones Adj. Gen. of the State of North Carolina. Theodore's unit was organized by Capt. Tilman Blalock at YANCEY, NC ( Yancey co. is in the NW part of NC on the Tenn. line) on 1-1847. Called into service at Smithville (now Southport) 2-14-1847. Honorably discharged at Smithville, NC 8-7-1848. Commanding officer was Capt. Jacob H. Constable. Burnsville is the Co. seat of Yancey Co., Nc. If Theodore lived in this County that would place him close to where I think he moved after the War (CHRISTIAN CO., KY). Hello All, Searching Pvt. Theodore Hicks 1st Reg, Co. D (foot soldiers) who served in the War with Mexico. He mustered-in 2/14/1847 at Smithville, N.C. Honorably discharged 8/7/1848 at Smithville, N.C. He may have been transfered to Co. G and discharged at Fort Monroe, Va. Where is Smithville, N.C.? In what county is Smithville (Brunswick?). Where is Brunswick Co., N. C.? What was his wife's name, perhaps Eliza? If this Theodore Hicks is who I think he is, his children are; Thomas, Milton, Austin, Benjamin, all born in KY. Hi! I am looking for some information about my great-aunt, Rhoda (Triplett) Bishop. She was born in either Knott Co. or Greenup Co. during the late 1800s or early 1900s. Her parents were Daniel and Margaret Stewart-Triplett. She married a man named Bishop. It is said that after she married she moved to Florida and no one ever heard from her again. I would like to find out what happened to her and her family. I have two photos of her hanging in the hallway. They are extremely old but one is in excellent condition. She is holding her baby, the back of the picture states the baby's name as Mary Elizabeth. Rhoda was very beautiful. Her brother, Johnie Triplett was my grandfather. Sam, Interested in the Rose family that I have been researching for near thirty years. I am researching Nathaniel Rose and wife Esther Dorton, this is our direct line and Samuel Rose and Lydia Sizemore as well as the John Rose and Rebecca Bowen line. These families were in Estill, Madison, Jackson, Rockcastle, and Wolfe County, Kentucky as early as about 1808l I don't know if there is a connection, but your Clarence Edgar Rose caught my eye.
