Brenda, I suppose you have seen the book, "History of NO CREEK Ohio County, Kentucky with a Genealogy and Biographical Section" by Harry D. Tinsley? If not you will want to I'm sure. I would love to have my own copy but as far as I know there has been not reprint. It was printed by Roberts Printing Company Frankfort, Kentucky 1953. I have talked with Sam McDonald about it and he would love to be able to do it, although Mr. Tinsley has not geven him permission last I talked with him. If this has changed please let me know. sheryl cstownsend@msn.com -----Original Message----- From: Kybrenda@aol.com [mailto:Kybrenda@aol.com] Sent: Thursday, January 10, 2002 10:47 AM To: KY-ROLLCALL-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [KY-ROLLCALL] Roll Call In a message dated 1/10/02 11:37:45 AM Eastern Standard Time, Kybrenda@aol.com writes: > These are the names I'm researching in area's of Bullitt, Nelson, Spencer, > Anderson, Jefferson Counties, with a few connections to Hardin and Shelby > Counties. > Look forward to hearing from anyone researching the following. > > Brenda > > > > > > 1. Dear List Members: The Holiday Season is over and I am back home again. I want to thank each of you for helping to keep our list running smoothly while I was spending Christmas with three of my children and their families in Delaware and Maryland. I had a wonderful time but came down the flu the day after Christmas which turned in to pneumonia so my week away from you turned into over two weeks. I am doing better, still weak and coughing but on the road to better heath. One other problem while I was away, I had downloaded a huge amount messages on my laptop while in Delaware and my laptop crashed. If you tried to send me a personal message from the 23rd to the 30th of December, I lost it and you will need to re-send. It is time again for your last Quarterly Report for 2001 as to the membership of the KY-ROLLCALL Mailing List and additional items of interest. The KY-ROLLCALL Mailing List has 261 members, 178 of these are subscribed to the Regular List and 83 to the Digest List. If you would like to visit the archived messages you may go to http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl and type in KY-ROLLCALL. From there you can search by keyword. There is a great Rootsweb site you can go to if you want to find out what Rootsweb lists you are a member of or need to unsubscribe from a list, just follow the instructions. http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ I want to thank each of you for continuing to help make this list the success it is. I also want to thank you for your support of me and your willingness to follow the list rules. I have been a List Mom now since 1997 and truly feel I have the best List Members out there who have subscribed to the Mailing Lists I take care of for Rootsweb. Just a reminder so this list is better for each of us the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc. (in other words - spam) is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 2. If you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line it might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 4. The wonderful relationship that develops between list members is also one of a Mailing Lists Problems. I encourage you to respond to the entire list with genealogical responses, you never know who your response will help. In the same thought I would like to ask you to not respond to the entire list with personal responses. Such as the first message from a member says Says "Happy Birthday Joan" and then Joan says "Thank you" and then about 60 of our members also send "Happy Birthday Joan". This is what I mean by personal messages. Just keep in mind anything is ok to be posted as long as it has to do with the subject of the list. If you have a doubt ask me. KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net 5. Please keep your Virus Scan updated as often as possible. If by chance one of our members unknowingly sends out a virus, please let me take care of it behind the scenes. Know that if you received it, I most likely did also. If you are concerned that I am not aware of the effected system, contact me personally KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net Please do not post to the entire list the name and e-mail address of the person you feel has the virus. If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fuller's Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html I wish for each of you a success in the year 2002 with your most difficult genealogical mystery. Trying to locate any information on my g grandfather, Eustice Avon HAIL and his wife Lizzy JONES. He was born KY December 1867, d. TN. He was the son of Melissa ORNDORFF and Thomas Gatewood HAIL. Lizzy JONES was born KY September 1872 and died in Houston, TX date unknown. She was a descendant of Revolutionary Soldier James Davis b. April 1755, d. March 29, 1797, and one of the first settlers of Christian County, KY. I have census for Eustice HAIL in 1870, Logan County, KY, 1880, Logan County, KY, and one in 1900 Christian County, KY as head of household with Lizzy JONES as his wife. It also shows their children my grandfather, Egbert Orndorff HAIL b. July 20, 1892, Davidson County, KY and died in Nashville March 1962, buried in Mt Olivet Cemetery, Nashville, TN. A second child, Elizabeth HAIL b. October 1893 in KY. I have no further information on these two, except Eustice HAIL died in TN, and is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Nashville, TN, and was founder of what is now Ward-Belmont College. Anyone with any knowledge of either of my g grandparents, please contact me. Dear List Members, It is that time of year again when we suddenly will have an influx of new online genealogy enthusiasts with their holiday gift computers that are usually newer and faster than what many of the rest of us have. For a great many of them, it will be their first time online. Some of them will make mistakes and some may (will) unintentionally do things and write things that may be irritating to us and against what we have set up as our list rules. Please take this into consideration in advance and be helpful to them. If things get out of hand, know that I am behind the scenes taking care of the problems. Just remember, one of these new members might hold the clue you have been searching for. Let us not discourage them before they have a chance to learn how this works. I would like also to take this time to wish each of you and yours a wonderful and safe Holiday Season. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
