Maybe he's listed under another name. I searched for years for Sarah Ramey (according to my grandfather's obit and my great-uncle's obit that was my great-grandmother's name). I couldn't find Sarah anywhere. Guess what - her name wasn't Sarah at all. It was Delilah. Go back over your records and see if you can find where he connects to other people, places, dates - then check the Turner names that match. -----Original Message----- From: Genie91954@wmconnect.com [mailto:Genie91954@wmconnect.com] Sent: Thursday, September 26, 2002 8:27 AM To: KY-ROLLCALL-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [KY-ROLLCALL] Any male TURNER born in 1868 in Warren County Kentucky d.1923 thank-you for all the wonderful TURNER names. I don't know if this will help, but maybe someone has the 1870 census and look them up for you. You also said you didn't know if the children where related, they are both listed as stepchildren to Benjamin Mercer, so maybe they had just gotten married. Warren County Kentucky Genealogy they do have the 1860 census index maybe that would help find Abina, and Benjamin then. I have been looking for a Galey TURNER b. Oct. 1868 d. 1923, married an Elizabeth "Antha / Anthy" HAZEl about 1893. They were both born in Warren County Kentucky. She died in Ohio County Kentucky in 1947. They are both buried in the Goshen Cemetery in Ohio County KY> Her marker is listed as Antha and his as Gale. On Antha's funeral papers it list her as Mrs. Galen TURNER. Plus I cannot find anything on him and his parents or siblings. It's like he did not exist. I have called the court house in Ohio County for death and there was none. They are not listed as being buried at the Cemetery because they actually got buried down the gully just past the Cemetery, so no one knew they were there except for family. So I was thinking Galen is a middle name or nick name and since he was a coal miner maybe he died in a coal mining accident. The only funeral home I could not check was CHINN's Funeral home because they no longer exist. Was told they did away with the paper of the dead.. Still I have no Luck... so any information I will appreciate even if it pans out not to be him. Antha was found at 5 with her mother and step father, Benjamin MERCER on the 1880 Census also living there was her brother (which I believe to be from her first husbands previous marriage before her, since there is a big age difference). God Bless Pam

It's canning that you would pull up those TURNER's from Green Castle Warren County KY.. that is where his wife was found as a 5 yr. old child on the Census. These are my g grandparents. It's my g grandfather that I cannot find any information on about his family and siblings or him as a child. I think Galen aka Galey is a nick name or more like a middle name. That is why I cannot locate him. That is why I was only calling all male TURNER's. Hoping I could get a lead. What I really need is to find some information on his marriage. Then maybe it would have his real name or parents name... but of course I haven't been able to locate that either. Thanks for sending me the names. I appreciate the time you took to do that. God Bless Pam

I do alot of free lookups, however if you ask for look ups in several resources and I'm able to send you lots of info, I like to receive $2.00 for each printed page, (some of these look ups take an hour or more) the money I recieve all goes back into buying more Cd's or books so I can offer more look ups. This is not a set charge and no ill feelings if you are unable to send anything. I enjoy helping others in their research. I always send the information and payment of any type is totally up to you and I certainly wouldn't expect anything at all if the info I send you is of no help. I have the 1850 Kentucky census (all counties only indexed by head of household) but can print out copies of the census and mail them to you regular mail) The fee for this is the same as above.) I can even do surname searches in a particular county Example All the SMITH Households in Nelson County for 1850) or all the John SMITH's in Kentucky in 1850. HI: I'm researching my ancestor MOSES BERRY. He was a slave in MASON COUNTY. He married MARIAH PRIOR. He was listed in the inventory of ROBERT H. BALDWIN'S estate in 1863, along with his son ALEXANDER. His last slave owner was MILTON DAUGHERTY. I have traced Moses and his family after emancipation, to BROWN COUNTY, OHIO. Now I want to trace them back before 1850. I know that Moses and Mariah married in 1854. It is likely that Alexander was not Mariah's mother, because of her age. So I would like to find out who Alexander's mother was. First, I am researching the origins of the BERRY surname. Second, I would like to find MOSES' parents, one of whom was named JUDA(H). Third, I want to find MARIAH's parents, SEYMOUR and PARMITIA (PRIOR). Not known where they lived. I have had no luck finding PRIOR slave owners in Mason County, but they may have been from the surrounding counties. If anyone has found slaves named MOSES, MARIAH, ALEXANDER, BELLE or ARTHUR in family documents such as wills or estate inventories, please let me know. Moses was born circa 1819-1821. Mariah was born in 1836. I have researched Milton Daugherty and Robert Baldwin and have some info to share about them. Thanks! KBerry
I am looking for information about Joseph Christian. He was murdered in 1942(?) and it made the newspapers. He was a taxi cab driver. I am trying to find if anyone has information about this or access to the Harlan newspapers where it was written about. Lisa
Trying to confirm this story and learn more about this family. Can anybody help? "Zadock Denison's mother and father and all the children except him were massacred by Indians near the Cumberline (Cumberland ?) Gap about 1806. Zadock, the only one to escape, was about sixteen years of age at the time. He jumped over a bluff and waded the river at night for two weeks before he came to his Uncle Benjamin Denison's home near Lexington, KY. Later he went to Hart Co. KY and married Elizabeth Taylor in 1825." I received these records about 10 years ago from a lady who is now deceased. I have no other information on this event. However, I do have more info on the Denison/Dennison family as they connect to my Johnson line. Am very interested to learn more about this Denison/Dennison family and their descendants. Thank you, Judy in TX
Thank you so much. This definitely looks like the family I am looking for. Yes, I agree that it is probably a typo. This is one of my brick walls. You are a big help. Thanks, Rhonda Walker
