Ok, I admit my blinders have been on for a year or so searching for my g grandfather. I thank-you all for putting up with all my repeated pleas and questions for help. Some even sent me the Census and said they thought that this was him, but of course it was a name different from what I had. BUT OOOOOOOOO no, I was still sticking to the name I knew, the name everyone knew and what was on the Census. HMMM now could I be wrong??? >>THICK BLINDERS ON HERE>> It wasn't until I had gotten my g grandmothers funeral papers that I even started to take the blinders off. More like trying to peak around them. Everything I had in documents, Census, and from family members that were alive recalled her as Antha or Anthy TURNER. Not until I received her funeral papers from what used to be Casebier Funeral home is now Danks, did I start to think. (Ouch) On the top as a title it said The Funeral for Elizabeth TURNER. WHAT? Elizabeth? Never heard of that name, I thought for sure it was the wrong funeral. But as I read down further I saw they listed her as Mrs. Galen TURNER. That was my g grandfather plus there were other family members listed that send flowers. HMMM, now I have a new name for my grandmother and a new aka for my g grandfather. He was known as Galey, Gaylon, Gagh, Gailey, Gagly, Felin A. and Finley. On lady had the 1880 Census CD's for all states. She looked for a G. TURNER and out of the list there was one G.C. TURNER who was born in 1865. She had a Fielding I. TURNER born in KY in 1870. My g grandfather was born in Warren County KY Oct. 1868 and died in 1923. He was married abt. 1893. He married Elizabeth "Antha / Anthy" HAZEL, she was also born in Warren County KY on May 16, 1875 and died in Hartford, Ohio County KY. on Aug. 14, 1947. I just came back from a visit with the wife of a 1st cousin 1 time removed who had live with my g grandfather who raised him for sometime. But she knew little of my great grandfather. But it was enough that started taking my blinders off some more. The Census that a few people sent me that matched his birth year gave his name as Fielding TURNER. A name unthinkable to me at the time. It was the 1880 Census in Ohio County, KY that had a Fielding TURNER listed as being 10 years old. That would put his year of birth abt. 1868. Father listed as Reuben TURNER and mother is listed as Ara A. TURNER ( Ann Heaver?) It was the only TURNER born in the year 1868. Had the father has Reuben TURNER in the 1870 Census of Greencastle, Warren County, KY.He was only 2. Seems like I am getting so close, but still no solid information. What is missing with my searches? God Bless Pam
