He had been suffering for years from consumption, and a recent attack of pneumonia hastened his death. He was born in Kenton county, in what was known as the Western Reserve, about 6 miles from town, October 14, 1802, and was a son of James Riggs. He has one brother living, Mr. W.A. Riggs, and five children, three boys and two girls. His wife departed this life about four years since. Mr. Riggs was for years the most prominent butcher of this vicinity, and at one time was considered very wealthy. During his later years he has been engaged in stock brokerage, and was for ten years the agent of the Kentucky Railroad. The funeral services are set for Friday afternoon, and the remains will be interred in Linden Grove. The deceased was a man of great presence of mind and coolness and instances of his daring and pluck are related by companions of his younger days with pride.
