Dear Barbara, Thank you for reaching out. The Baker I am searching for is Mary Baker married to John H. Baker of Brandy Springs, Garrard County. In the 1930 census, John H. is listed a being 36 and wife Mary as 31. As I understand it, Mary was one of maybe five children of George W. Mitchell and unknown Mary's mother. It is my belief that Mary's mother lived nearby the home of John Mitchell in Brandy Springs. The Mitchell men didn't like to wander far from home to find their women. I also believe that George never married Mary's mother. And the poor thing probably died in childbirth like all the other women the Mitchell men were drawn to. Just thought there might be some information about who Mary's mother and sibliings were. I really know very little. Thanks for reaching out. Warmest regards, Jennifer
Have you tried searching around Glasgow, KY? Mitchells and Bakers are plentiful there, Bakers have been mainstay families around Columbia, Adair County, since it was formed. Garrard County was not too far away for families to wander in the early days.
