The end was due to infirmities of age, she having been an invalid for several years. Mrs. Meriwether was born August 10, 1839, on the farm where she died. She was a daughter of the late Col. John P. Allen, and the widow of Thornton Meriwether, at one time a large land owner of this county. After her husband’s death Mrs. Meriwether took up the management of Allendale Farms and soon established a wide reputation for fine Jersey cattle. Mrs. Meriwether is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Sue Thornton Henning. The funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian church yesterday morning at 10 o’clock by the Rev. W.R. Anderson.
