Article Text: Jackson, Ky., Jan. 23.--Beach HARGIS, who is out of jail on bond of $25,000 pending trial for the murder of his father, Judge James HARGIS, is in bed at the HARGIS home here with a serious self-inflicted wound in the foot. HARGIS yesterday began drinking heavily, and late in the afternoon terrorized his relatives at Clear Fork, on Frozen Creek. There he entered the home of Harlan SOUTH, and after driving the family from the house amused himself for some time by shooting the dishes off the dining table. Neighbors who attempted to quiet HARGIS were driven up stairs in the SOUTH home, but managed to get word to some men going by to send help from Jackson. Husband Tries to Take Life After Wife's Death. Article Text: Discharging a pistol as she fell down a flight of stairs, Mrs. B. P. RAGSDALE, of Catlettsburg, today wounded herself fatally and 10 minutes later her husband attempted to take his life. "If she's gone, I might as well go too," was RAGSDALE's only comment as he tried to kill himself. A double tragedy was prevented by Ray WELLMAN, a neighbor, who wrested a gun from RAGSDALE, interfering with RAGSDALE's attempt to send a bullet through his brain after he had shot himself in his leg. RAGSDALE is a former major league ball player. He came to Catlettsburg from Texas. Brother in Law Implicated on Whisky Charge. Article Text: A confession written by his brother in law, James KYLE, to the effect that he saw Winter THOMLINSON, charged with possessing and transporting moonshine whisky, and whose trial will come up this week in County Judge E. H. DOAK's court, empty by means of a rubber hose the contents of a ten gallon keg into fruit jars, will be used against TOMLINSON. The confession was secured by County Detective Frank HALL who arrested KYLE as he was guarding the liquor with a shotgun. KYLE said he was instructed to TOMLINSON to guard the liquor, officers said. It was on the information furnished by KYLE that TOMLINSON was arrested Monday. When brought to the office of Judge DOAK and charged in the warrants sworn out against him with possessing and transporting whisky. Article Text: Federal prohibition agents seized a quart of moonshine liquor yesterday morning at the home of Arthur JACOBS, 235 Perry street. In searching his residence the officers found the liquor hidden in a barrel of old clothes, it was said. The search was based on affidavits that JACOBS had been selling liquor. Article Text: Suit was filed in circuit court Wednesday by William GREEN against his wife, Mrs. Shelby GREEN, charging her with abandonment. They were married in November, 1913, according to the petition, and lived together until June 1918, when Mrs. GREEN left GREEN's house and has refused to live with him since that time. W. P. KIMBALL is attorney for the plaintiff. The Kinkead-Wilson Company filed suit against Preston PAYNE asking the court to force payment of promissory notes for $700 which it holds and also $37.35, which amount the company declares is due for work done for the defendant. W. C. G. HOBBS is attorney for the plaintiff. Mrs. Ella MCGOWAN filed suit against her husband Robert MCGOWAN, charging him with abandonment. They were married in December, 1908, and lived together until July, 1914, when MCGOWAN abandoned her. They have not lived together since, the petition states. P. T. Article Text: Willard KENDALL, 15 years old, and Evelyn MCNABB 17 years old, the two youthful runaways from home, who were taken into custody on the streets of Lexington Tuesday night by Mrs. Margaret EGBERT, police matron, went back to their homes in Louisville Wednesday morning. The mother of the KENDALL girl came to Lexington after her daughter, and relatives of her chum, Evelyn MCNABB, wired to authorities here to send her back by the first train.
