Attention Sherry Wooden, What a wonderful job you are doing at the Morganfield, KY cemetery. I believe I may have relatives buried there by the name of Clements and will be anxious to hear more about your work. Thanks to you and everyone working on cleaning up the cemetery and recording the information. Dottie Himes Ozark, Arkansas [email protected] "Happy Genealogy Searching. I'm taking a cemetery archaeology preservation class for the month of May. The cemetery that we are working at is in Morgantown, Butler County, Kentucky. We just started working on it two days ago. It's going to take a long time to map out the cemetery, because we first have to clear it out (it hasn't had any upkeep for years-it's overgrown with trees, shrubs, bushes, etc-it's difficult to even walk). We have been flagging grave markers as we find them (some are broken, have missing pieces, and are out of place). I made a list of the grave markers that are legible that we have found thus far. From our observations, we have concluded that the cemetery is predominantly a Kuykendall family cemetery. The names that we have found so far are (we may find more when it has been cleared out more): > John W. Kuykendal B. April 9, 1843 D. 1865 > Hezekiah J. Kuykendal B. Nov. 13, 1835 D. Feb. 12, 1862 > Emily Clark Kuykendal B. Nov. 20, 1840 D. Jan 31, 1863 > Mark K. Kuykendal B. March 12, 1796 D. 12,5,1859 > Elizabeth Kuykendal B. Nov. 27, 1800 D. May 28, 1871 > Thomas P. Kuykendal B. Feb 25, 18? D.? > Almedia Kuydkendal B. 12-14-1820 D. 2-13-1853 > Charles H. Hudnall B. 1 Feb. 18? > Some of the above dates, spellings, etc may change, as we do more restoration. Most of the lettering is difficult to discern at this point. > If you have any other information about the above individuals I would appreciate you sharing it with me. We are taking photos and videos of our progress also. We will be producing a concise written summary of the cemetery's use life as well as a video of our research project. The items will be filed with the Butler County Public Library, the WKU Kentucky Museum, local genealogical groups, the property owners, and any descendants we can locate. WKU's quarterly Echo publication will likely run a story on our research, and we will likely submit some articles to local papers. For professionals, Dr. Darlene Applegate (my professor), will submit a formal site inventory form to the Office of State Archaeology, present a paper at the annual Kentucky Heritage Council Archaeology Conference, and submit a paper for publication in the annual "Current Archaeological Research in Kentucky" journal. She will also submit an Attorney General Cemetery Survey Form with the Office of the At! > torney General in Frankfort. We will evaluate the eligibility of the cemetery for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. So, if you (or anyone you know) have any family photos of these individuals, letters, death/marriage certificates, family history charts, etc. I would appreciate you sharing them with me so that we can add it to the research collection. Please forward this information to anyone you think may have interest or information about this family cemetery. Please also email me directly, that way it will be easier to forward info. to my fellow researchers and instructor. > Thank you for your time. > Sherry Wooden > [email protected] > > > > > ==== KY-CEMETERIES Mailing List ==== > List problems?
