Could SKS please tell me if it is possible that New London, IA is named for this area? I just recently found that my great, great grandparents, John C. Shepherd 1810-1847 and his wife Rebecca Fees or Feas 1812-1902 moved from KY to the Indian territories in what would become New London, IA. A book on early IA settlers says they were the first ones there. It suddenly occurred to me that possibly New London, IA could have been named for London, KY not London, England.
