We have organized an association to care for the PKC which is just off the Morgantown Rd across that road from the old Pilot Knob Presbyterian Church. The cemetery is in need of much work. These are some of the families buried there: YOUNG, HARRIS, STUART, HANES, PERKINS, CHANEY, FLEMING, THORNTON, RULEY, ARNOLD, COLEMAN, HOBDY, MOODY, PEARSON, FULCHER, CHAUVIN, PEART, JOHNSTON, BREEDLOVE, AND BEACH. Anyone interested in helping with the care, please contact me. Commie Jo Hall

Have you tried the neighboring Daviess Co? My aunt was married to a Worthington, until his passing. I remember going to their house as a child. They lived on the edge of Owensboro, Daviess Co., on a small farm. They lived on Worthington Road. The road is still there and I believe the house still exists. I remember there was a graveyard there, as that is where my aunt's husband was buried. It was an old cemetery from what I remember, I could be wrong though.
Hello, I am looking for a listing of the Worthington's buried at Worthington Cemetery, at Worthington Chapel. I believe this is near Island, KY. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I am looking for all the relatives of William E. Worthington, especially interested in his brother? Andrew. My direct ancestor is Bradford Worthington, brother of Polly Worthington who married Amos Ray. The son of Amos and Polly Ray, married Lucinda Dame, daughter of Samuel Dame and Mary Worthington in McLean Co. in 1865.. I am trying to find our where Andrew, Polly, and Amos are buried and anything else you can provide. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Carolyn Worthington Taflinger
Carolyn, Are your Worthington's descended from William Worthington who married Elizabeth Stringer on 2 Nov. 1837 in Muhlenberg Co., KY? I have a little information on this family, but don't know where they are buried. I doubt it after the Filson raised their prices for research, maybe they know everything there, but $10.00 per day for non-members and $5.00 per day for members? This is ridiculous. Doubt if nearly as many will do research there now. This is as of today, folks. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, July 02, 2001 11:02 PM Subject: Re: [KY-CEM] St. Matthews, Jefferson County Cemeteries? > Cave Hill Cemetery extends from the Highlands northeast into the Crescent > Hill area which is not too far from St. Matthews. Harriett, when did you gggf die? It sometimes states on the certificate where they are buried. I live in Louisville and would be glad to try to find him for you. Was he catholic? The Catholic's have a catholic cemetery office that lists everyone catholic buried in any of their cemeteries. I don't think any of the other denominations have a central office for burials. You can write me personally if you want or go thru the line. Others may be interested. He could be buried anywhere in or around Louisville. Shame on you Joyce, I thought only us old people from the fifties did that. Dolores
Margaret Jennings and her Husband Michael Jennings we buried in Rockcastle County Kentucky in Flat Rock Cemetery. Does anyone have knowledge of this cemetery? Tot O'dell [email protected]
Greetings Fellow Rooters.... I am seeking info on the following listed in the 1850 Federal census of Jessamine County, KY..... Andrew McConnel/McConnell age 54 Nancy McConnel/McConnell age 54 in same h/h James McConnel/McConnell age 24 Andrew McConnel/McConnell age 17 I am hoping that someone may have noticed these names or other McConnell names while searching cemetery records and/or visiting cemeteries in Jessamine County. Any information or clues would be greatly appreciated... thanks ever so.. Marilyn McConnell in Vegas.
Cave Hill Cemetery extends from the Highlands northeast into the Crescent Hill area which is not too far from St. Matthews. There is also a cemetery on Brownsboro Road, Zachary Taylor, that is close to St. Matthews. There are several smaller family plots off Browns Lane but I think that mostly the Brown family is buried there. Also, if I remember right, there is an old plot off Breckinridge Lane near Hikes Point. I went to high school in the East end of Louisville and the cemeteries were places where you could go and no one bothered to look for you. They were popular places to go drink Mogan David and smoke cigarettes. We were verrrrry daring in the early sixties! Also more scared of our parents than spooks. I'll ask my friends who still live there if any of these are recorded and where to look. My suggestion is the Filson Club in Louisville. They know everything. Good luck. Joyce Baker
Hi, Can anyone on the list tell me what cemeteries are in the St. Matthews area. I've come to a really high brick wall trying to find out where my gg-grandfather was buried. His name was Stephen (Stepter) P. CAMMACK. I've checked every cemetery I can think of in the Louisville area (that's on line). Since I am originally from Louisville, I checked a lot before I left. Stepter and his family lived in St. Matthews. Maybe there is a cemetery I don't know about. Any help would really be appreciated. Harriet Oldham Georgia
Dear List Members, Here it is the end June and time for the Second Quarterly Report for 2001. Can you believe how fast the time has passed? This one almost passed me by. The KY-CEMETERIES Mailing List has 466 members, 327 on the Regular list and there are 139 members on the Digest List. As most of you know by now, the GenConnect Boards have changed. Rootsweb.com and Ancestry.com are continuing their merger and now have merged the GenConnect Boards. I am not sure of my feeling regarding this yet, but will watch it and let you know. I am not one to jump to conclusions quickly. I also take care of many GenConnect Boards and did loose all of them in which I did not take care of the Query board due all the boards, bios, wills, pensions, etc. being combined within the Query board. If you used one of these boards, now you know why I suddenly disappeared. I know many of you have concerns regarding copyright laws and the information you post to the boards and the mailing lists. The following was posted by Rootsweb Management. "When you post messages to mailing lists, message boards, and other facilities at RootsWeb, those posts remain your property under copyright law." The same is true for those using the message boards at Ancestry.com. In short, if you posted it, you own it." If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fullers Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. Always know that I will be more than happy to help you if you are having problems unsubscribing, you only need to ask. If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search. Please remember, so that this list is better for each of us, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc., in other words Spam is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at [email protected] There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly Spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 2. If you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line it might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 4. The wonderful relationship that develops between list members is also one of a Mailing Lists Problems. I encourage you to respond to the entire list with genealogical responses, you never know who your response will help. In the same thought I would like to ask you to not respond to the entire list with personal responses. Such as, the first message from a member says "Happy Birthday Mary" and then Mary says "Thank you and then about 60 of our members also send "Happy Birthday Mary". This is what I mean by personal messages. Just keep in mind anything is ok to be posted as long as it has to do with the subject of the list. If you have a doubt ask me. [email protected] 5. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is. Kathleen Burnett List Mom [email protected]
