    1. [KY-CEM] Does anyone have McLean Co. Cemetery books
    2. Tina Hall
    3. I am interested in locating some folks in McLean county cemetery books. Does anyone have a book they would be willing to look in for me? I am looking for the burial place of Elizabeth Vertrees Berry. I haven't looked in all the censuses yet, but the last one I find her in is 1880 in Webster county. It's my understanding that she is buried in McLean. Her husband was buried in Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery in 1873. I would really appreciate finding her. She was born about 1830's in Meade county. thanks, Tina Hall

    1. [KY-CEM] Grave marker repairs
    2. Lois Mauk
    3. You will find some terrific cemetery restoration resources on our Indiana Pioneer Cemeteries Restoration Project website at http://www.rootsweb.com/~inpcrp. Three things would be of particular interest to you: (1) Our Cemetery Restoration Toolbox pages at http://www.rootsweb.com/~inpcrp/repairtoolbox.html (2) A book entitled, "Landscapes of Memories: A Guide for Conserving Historic Cemeteries". The Heritage Properties and Museum Programs Unit of the Cultural Programs Branch, Province of Ontario, has released their excellent guide book, Landscapes of Memories: A Guide for Conserving Historic Cemeteries. The guide has been written by specialists in masonry conservation, and provides technical information on common tombstone repairs, as well as general information about grave markers and their construction. Copies are only $10 each (Canadian), plus shipping and handling of approximately $4.75 ($14.75 is equivalent to approximately $10.06 in U.S. Dollars). Website: http://www.gov.on.ca/MBS/english/publications/popular/107278.html (3) The Indiana Historical Society and the Jefferson County (IN) Genealogical Society are co-sponsoring a Cemetery Restoration Workshop in MADISON, INDIANA on Saturday, 10/6/2001. (Madison is just across the Ohio River from Milton, KY and near Bedford, KY.) Details on the workshop can be found at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~inpcrp/workshops.html#Madison The Madison workshop is the 4th one to be held in Indiana this year and is, to the best of my knowledge, the last one of the year. This is an opportunity to learn basic stone repair techniques from John Walters, one of the most accomplished stone repairers in the state of Indiana. (This is a full-day workshop costing only $15. It will include a light lunch, an indoor morning session of notable speakers and an afternoon session "in the yard", with hands-on demonstrations, so come dressed to work in the cemetery.) Hope you can join us there! Lois

    1. [KY-CEM] Death date of G Grandfather????
    2. I am in need of some help try to find a death date for my great Grandfather, William Jasper Muncy. Part of my problem lies with his variances of his name: He is Jasper Muncy in regard to his 17 Mar 1879 marriage to Lucinda Pennington in Harlan County (what is now Leslie County). He is Jasper Monsey in the 1880 Leslie County Census. He is Jasper M. Muncy in 1897 in Clay County in regard to his marriage to a Sophia Fawbush Wilson. He is Jasper Muncy in the 1900 Clay County Census. He is Will Muncey in 1920 on my Grandparents marriage Cert (he married them). With the help of the good people from this list, I have been able to find much information on my Great Grandfather William Jasper Muncy, except for 2 items, & that would be a Death Certificate or Obituary. I have what I believe to be his final resting place, & that would be in "Old Benge" Cemetery in Clay County. I have been told that the cemetery is located just off highway 472, between Burning Springs & London. The William Jasper Muncy buried there, according to the headstone, was born 30 Jan 1863 & died 17 Jun 1941. I have searched every death database that I can find, but cannot find him listed. I have searched all William Muncy's, Jasper Muncy's, William Jasper Muncey, etc...& cannot find him. I have been looking for a year & a half now for either an Obituary, or a Death Certificate to prove when he died, but haven't had any luck as of yet. Is it possible that a Death Certificate wasn't filed on him? If there wasn't a death Cert filed, there is still the chance that an Obituary on him exists, correct? If someone were able to come up with an Obituary on him, I would truly feel indebted to them. Like I said earlier, I think I have located him in "Old Benge" cemetery in Clay County, but I think it might be possible that he actually died in Leslie or even possibly Harlan Counties. I know that this posting was long winded, but I was just trying to put forward what information I do have on my Great Grandfather. Again, I would greatly appreciate any help in finding a Death Cert, Obituary, etc... on my Great Grandfather William Jasper Muncy. John

    1. Re: [KY-CEM] Will do Wayne County Cemeteries look-ups
    2. The Brewsters I were thinking about were James, Phoebe, Rebecca, James Claiborn, and James Perry. I know that Jesse and his son William (I think) are buried there. They were struck by lightning (or thunder in Jesse's case). These are the only names I'm sure of in Wayne Co. as I am still working on learning this part of my family. Thanks again, Don
