Normally, we do not post virus warnings on mailing lists, but ever since the W32.Klez virus, these seem to be coming more frequent, especially among mailing list subscribers. So I wanted to warn everyone about a potentially hazardous new virus that was just detected yesterday called the W32.Bugbear. It is basically the same type of worm virus as the W32.Klez where it copies itself to your computer and sends out bogus emails and thus spreads the virus to others. I want to remind our subscribers to please keep your virus protection software up to date and scan all incoming and outgoing emails for potential viruses. Rootsweb filters all it's email, but the virus can be spread from individuals who respond directly to messages sent through the mailing lists. So please be aware of this. You can read more about this new virus at the following URL. http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected] If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Please respond to any questions about this offlist. Thanks! Sincerely, Vanessa Burzynski Rootsweb List Administrator
