It started online on Octobre 2001. Under www.virtuelles-museum-preussen.de you can browse amongst more than 1500 internet addresses - all of them researched and annotated. The user can choose from a total of 10 chapters - eg Prussian history, art, biographies and research tools for historians - for fast access to selected data banks, sources, essays and papers, photographs and facsimiles. Additionally, links lead to the home pages of museums, libraries, trusts, cities and exhibitions. Future plans for the information portal include a news service and events calendar as well as virtual exhibitions. The language of the annotations are mostly German like most of the URL are .de addresses. There are translations in English and French of the aims and ideas in general of the virtual museum of Prussia in the category "Impressum/Das Projekt". This project is a non-commercial initiative and there are plans for future collaboration with Fraunhofer institute for Software and Systems Technology Berlin and the Freie Universität Berlin, Department of Communications History.
