    1. [KUNKLE] Rudolph & Anna Kunkel
    2. Phyllis Dendy
    3. Looking for any information on a Rudolph Kunkel that married Anna Meier. Have no dates of birth for them but my best guess would be around 1820. Both were born in PA. They had one daughter Hanna Elizabeth b. 1842 and if there were others, they're unknown to me. Finding anything on these two is like pulling chicken's teeth. All help appreciated. 1. [KUNKLE] What is your lineage?
    2. Janet Reinhold
    3. Hello kunkel-l, conkle-l, and kunkle-l It's been suggested on one of the lists that we send along our descendancy for these names. They are definitely related, especially if you go back far enough. My line of Conkles: We descend from one John Conkle of Washington County, Pennsylvania. He was born about 1730 or 1739 in Germany. Some say he was born in Wickenrode although I am not sure of that. Others say he was born in Floersbach, and this seems to be more logical, although it is spelled there "Kunkel" and he used the "Gunkel" spelling in America, and it was anglicized to CONKLE and CONKEL. He came to America through Philadelphia in 1767, we believe. He was married to a Margaret, and I don't know her maiden name. He had a son Adam CONKLE who married Mary OLLER, daughter of Conrad OLLER. I will try to post the siblings at some later time. Adam's son, Henry Madison Conkle, married Mary Elizabeth Vogel, daughter of Gottfried Vogel and Janette Young. Their son, William CONCLE, married Rachel WEAVER. Their son, William Weaver CONKLE, is my grandfather and he married Margaret BERLIN, daughter of Samuel and Ola (SHARP) Berlin. The lines all married and resided in Washington County Pennsylvania. They lived in Scenery Hill (used to be called Hillsborough) and Hickory. If you go to Scenery Hill today, on Route 40, you can still see and experience the thrill of Hill's Tavern. Route 40 was on the stagecoach route known as the National Road, and this old tavern is quite nicely preserved. It is expensive to eat there, and reservations are recommended (I'm not sure what the name is now). You can always get a beer in the bar for $4... I implore those on the list to correct the above as suits them, as my memory is not that good and I am without detailed info here at work. -- Best regards, Janet Reinhold mailto:spindle@futurepkg.com Editor, The Kunkel Kunkle Conkle Gunkel SPINDLE Family Genealogy Newsletter (two issues behind for 2001 & one index behind for 2000) PO Box 4001, Covina CA 91723 Fax 626-966-5779

    1. [KUNKLE] Greetings from your list admintrator
    2. Bernard & Shirley Fergus
    3. Hello List Members! My name is Shirley Fergus. I am the list owner for the LAYCOCK,WINGO, GUTLICK, KUNKLE and ORGEL rootsweb lists. This list has been very quiet and I would like to ask you to please post your lineage so that we can liven up the list. Who knows you may have a cousin on this list you never knew just waiting to hear from you! Or someone else may just have the information you are looking for, on that long long loooong lost relative that just won't seem to surface out of the old wood work. Please make sure to put the ancestors name in the subject line and not just the last name if you are wanting to try and find a specific person. If you find information through your travels to court houses, census, cemeteries or even right here on the net in cyber space, and even if it doesn't pertain to your line, maybe you could help us out and post it here, as that information could be beneficial to someone else that just hasn't tripped over it yet. REMEMBER: To always cite the source of the information you post, because your post will be archived here at rootsweb. As more and more people join the list and we know they will, it helps to have everyone's information listed so that say a year from now that "cousin" can come back to you if they have not joined already. Thanks so much for all your help and for your desire to find your ancestors. We all need to know from where it is we came and how we have come to be in the place we are today. If you have any questions, comments, or information that you feel I may be able to help you with...please feel free to e-mail me and I will return your post as soon as possible. Thanks once again, Shirley Fergus (ORGEL) List Owner

They moved often. According to what is known, Maude Potter was married to a William Frank, or Frank William Marvin. Can you shed any light on this? Bruce

    3. Hi. The Kahlgrund is known as a glasmaking region during the late 16th / early 17th. near Huckelheim and Jakobsthal. And KUNKEL is since 1406 one of the eldest name in glasmaking. It might be that you are decending from that KUNKEL-line like i do. Interested in a change of impressions? 1. [KUNKLE] Sample Newsletters Available
    2. Janet Reinhold
    3. Hello kunkel-l,conkle-l, kunkle-l List Members........ If anyone is having a problem with getting their newsletters, now is the time to bug me about it. I have received some feedback already; keep it coming if you can. Also, if you indicate your interest in it, I will be sending out a sample copy of the Kunkel Kunkle Conkle Gunkel "Spindle" Family Newsletter as well as the contents listing of issues so far. I will be sending out the sample issue for free to US and Canadian family members who are interested. If you'd like to help with postage, you can of course do so, but it is not requested. The future (paid subscription) issues cannot be as many pages as the sample I'll be sending, and the reason is one of cost for the photocopies. I didn't want the subscription to be more than $14, and that has to include postage. Some of the quarterly issues were 38 pages, and weighed 5 ounces! As many of you already know, I am not the family historian; I can only edit and print what you send me, more or less. I credit everything that I print with the submitter's name and address, if available. Jim Kunkle, jekunkle@uswest.com, who IS our family historian (actually I think he got stuck with it!!) looks forward not only to the issues, but especially the QUERIES on the family, so that is why I am trying to get lots of them for this next issue. And since many of our members don't have computers, that's why I ask for the home address, usually. Don't send them to the list, if you can help it, unless you don't mind broadcasting it to everyone... Also, as I get a bit more time, I hope to be working on the web site more. Ideas welcome! -- Best regards, Janet mailto:spindle@futurepkg.com Janet Host Reinhold Editor, Kunkel Kunkle Conkle Gunkel "Spindle" Family Genealogy Newsletter, Quarterly Journal "Since 1995" PO Box 4001, Covina CA 91723 spindle@futurepkg.com QUERY FOR NEXT NEWSLETTER SURNAME __________________________________ I AM LOOKING FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT __________ __________________, WHOSE SPOUSE WAS____________________ _______________________ AND WHO LIVED IN ____________________________________________________ AT THIS TIME PERIOD:____________________________. She gave birth to a son Andrew (Tansey) in 1855 (or 1854) and died when he was three months old in 1855. Andrew was taken to an Uncle (Matthew Spies is the name I've been told) who was married to a Kunkle girl who was the sister of Caroline Elizabeth. They raised Andrew. I have no other information on these people but would love to learn more. If you can give me any information on any of these people, please e-mail me at: bctieszen@wwwebservice.net. Thank you!
