    3. Les, (and to Kunkel-L folks, I sent Les an 11-page file write-up on John Conkle d 1829 of Scenery Hill, Washington Co PA) Can't answer all! See * below: At 04:12 PM 04/16/1998 EDT, you wrote: >Hello Janet, > >The gen. for John Conkle looks good to me. Will this become part of the new >Jim Conkle Book? I am looking forward to seeing the remainder of the book. *Do you mean the Kunkel-Kunkle in America before 1850 book (I forget what it's called) by Jim (James E) Kunkle? Well I was hoping to get folks to make input to the John Conkle thing I sent, you know, clarifications, corrections, etc. I haven't heard yet from David Shannon. He is the one writing the revision of "Conkles of German Solitude," about John Conkle & descendants of Washington co PA. If by remainder of book you mean what I have on (further) descendants, why I'd be glad to send that to you. All the way down to my son, if you want, but I only ask that it not be put on the Web for living folks. I want to place var. lines on the web site with the same restrictions on living folks....."when" I get time.......!!! > >I asked before, is this James Kunkle related to the James M. and Doris Kunkle >that compiled the HISTORY OF THE KUNKLE NAME, copyrighted 1975. *This I don't know. I will have to check. This James Kunkle is the one from Denver CO who's compiled a whole bunch of family group sheets (a plug for Jim, his address is PO Box 140460, Edgewater CO 80214, our unofficial "organizational" head). I know he has used the book of which you write, as source material for some of the sheets. >Will the new works be an update of the 1975 compilation? *It is different in format than the "Name" book, and includes more families, various lines. I don't own a copy of Wallace Kunkel & James E Kunkle's complete work, but it looks as if Jim has used (or wants to use) some of Wallace's maps and wording on the early history. Otherwise it is totally Jim's compilations. >When will the new Conkle book be ready? *I haven't heard back from David Shannon yet. I hope he is doing okay. Norma Olson is working on Henry Conkle Sr.'s and last I heard from her (Xmas!), it will be out pretty soon. >What program did you use to prepare the report? I like the foot note section. *I use Brother's Keeper for windows, and I made a "book style" descendant report; BUT I saved it to an ".rtf" file and then massaged it with Word 97. BK will do the footnotes, though, if that's what you want. > >I hope the CONKLE's HOLLOW item, in the SPINDLE, was enjoyed by all. Thanks!! >les conkle *Thank YOU! I was so pleased to find the bird photos on the web, however they spelled it as "CONKEL's Hollow." I don't have the address handy, but if you do a search for "Conkel's Hollow" you'll find it. Information on John Kunkel Small, whose family resided for a time in the Harrisburg PA area before NY and then, FL, can be found at: http://fpc.dos.state.fl.us/fpc/small.htm (As well as in the April issue of Spindle.) The other book I have to get out is the Ancestor chart book of member's info they've sent me (in 1997). This isn't compiled by anyone other than the people who've sent it to me, but I hope to get it indexed. Janet
