Hi, Jo, By all means, please do let me know the next time you plan to be in the Murphy or Brasstown area, and possibly we can get together and compare notes. My people spelled it Gunkle and Gunkel in the later generations, but in some of the earlier records it is Kunkle or Kunkel. Mine were from the Berks and Lancaster county area in Pennsylvania, then to Indiana and later to Illinois.
