Perhaps somewhere in the past? My gggrandfather born Germany appears in early SC USC as Henry Gooncall, the Henry Gunkel which finally was Kunkle/Conkle, my mother's maiden name - the family rested in Henry Co., GA. We don't know if Henry came directly from Germany to SC or to PA to SC - that's our mystery at this point. If I'd had my rathers my husband and I would have retired at Murphy.
