I have been lately trying to use Jim Kunkle's Collection of Family Files to try to match up lines of Kunkel, Kunkle, Conkle, Gunkel etc. Because I'm a "slow learner" in many regards, today I have color coded them too (for my benefit I suppose!). Anyway, if anyone wants me to look anything up in the files, let me know and I will share what I have (from Jim's research & others as noted from his files). It is indexed by Location, and of course Jim's Family File number which I am only beginning to get used to. The color coding helps, but I ran out of colors and now use 1/2 of some with 1/2 of others. I have now 38 smiley faces of varying color schemes! Jim has 13 family files with known immigrants (families before 1800), 21 unconnected lines, and 4 lines he calls "Families in America after 1800." Here's a quote from a letter from Jim Kunkle to me in April (slightly edited): "Yes, I've heard of the Internet, and the term Web Page. All a part of a computer. No, I don't have anything but this House full of Binders in every room of my house & now my Bedroom too (smile), and this Electric Typewriter. I'm all the time asking Folks who have a computer, and who get on the Internet (or whatever), to tell folks about ME, and my Mountain (House-full) of Records, and share with me what they have, as I'd do the same for them. Or Send me their "Mailing Address," and I'll write to them. An "email" address don't help me. I need to put a postage stamp on an envelope (smile)."
