>>>Question for the serious minded.. As our Kunkle and or other Prussian ancestors were actually born in Prussia why not do we refer it as that in lieu of Germany? The first ten correct answers will receive, ................ my compliments.. Here are a few of my ideas: 1 - Not all Konkles were born in Prussia. 2 - Prussia extended into a greater part of what is now Poland 3 - Germany did exist as a country from the Treaty of Verdun (834) until the Thirty years war which ended in 1648 with the country divided into 100's of small principalities. 4 - Germany did not exist as the country we know now until after most of our Konkle ancestors had already arrived in the New World 5 - Prussia did not develop into a strong principality until the 1700's under Frederick the Great which is also after many of our Konkle ancestors arrived here
