    3. My great grandfather, Frank Kunkel, was a blacksmith in Hyde Park, MA. He emmigrated to the USA from Germany and I believe came into the USA thru Maryland. His son, Walter Kunkel, was one of the chief engineers brought to Panama to build the Panama Canal in 1907-1912. A brother stayed behind in Panama and became a Canal Conductor. Walter came back to Hyde Park (Readville), MA and took over his father's blacksmith shop. The new company was called "Frank Kunkel @ Son, Inc." and was a steel forging company that made parts for the submarines and tanks during WW II. His son and my father, Charles A. Kunkel of Readville, MA and Canton, MA (May 29, 1913 - Sept. 9, 1992) took it over and it was sold in 1972 to Raytheon. Anyone who has additonal information, Please contact me at [email protected] Peter Kunkel (Germany) (1800s) Frank Kunkel (Germany & USA) (1800s) Walter & Emma (Caney) Kunkel Charles & Hazel Kunkel (May 29, 1913 - Sept. 9, 1992) David Kunkel (June 5, 1952-present)
