Kunkel OLNEY, Texas -- Theodore W. "Ted" Kunkel, 96, of Megargel, Texas, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, in an Olney nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney with the Rev. Ray Grube, pastor of Megargel Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Megargel Cemetery. Mr. Kunkel was born March 28, 1902, in Throckmorton County, Texas. He was a graduate of Megargel High School. He and Audrey Mae Pool were married Dec. 25, 1920, in Megargel. She died Jan. 11, 1996. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Megargel and Masonic Lodge No. 1038 A.F. & A.M. He was a retired farmer and a longtime resident of Megargel. A daughter, Mary Louise Wagner, died in 1944. A son, Theodore Jr., died in 1935. I agree funny things do happen with spelling of names - my gggrandfather Henry Kunkle's name was spelled "Gooncall" in the 1st SC USC in which he appeared, even tho "Conkle" was shown in another Co. at that time. Jo Wilkes
