    3. Forwarding this note with author's permission. I will send him a copy of Spindle & he will announce it there, too. ---- I am a genealogical columnist for a Covington, Louisiana newspaper called The News-Banner. We are located in St. Tammany Parish, just 25 miles from New Orleans. If interested in placing a free query or any information about your personal family line, genealogical society, historical society or family reunions, etc. in my column, I would very much welcome it. There is absolutely NO CHARGE for this! This is done as a service to my readers. I also do book reviews (must send a sample copy). A tearsheet will be sent when reviewed. Our circulation is 23,000 and we are on the Internet. You may send the information to this e-mail address or mail it to: Erin Wallace Mangiapane, c/o The News-Banner, P.O. Box 90, Covington, La., 70434. It must be marked to my attention or I WILL NOT get it. I own the out of print books called "St. Tammany Parish Cemetery Records" and some Orleans Parish Cemetery and Church records if anyone has ancestors from these parishes and would like me to do a free look up. I would be glad to help. Just drop me a line. I also have access to the News Banner's obituaries but you must send me the ancestors name and DATE OF DEATH. They are not indexed as of yet. They are arranged by date of death and the paper began printing in 1964. You may connect to my web site on the Internet. My column is called "Somewhere in Time". Please stop by and let me know what you think! I look forward to your reply. 3. Hi Bob Thanks so much for getting back to me. Yes, I did have some creative spelling. Creativity in spelling makes genealogy so much more interesting. Thanks for letting me know about Sebastian. I am also decended from Sebastian Kunkel who married Anna Catharina through their daughter Eva Elizabeth. I assume this is the Sebastian who is a brother of Nicholas. I appreciate the update on the information. Wally was my source for information; although I realize his focus was primarily in America. Has anyone else compiled the earlier information? I see that I have also developed a different spelling for Schuster. Is it Schuster of Shuster? Best Wishes Will Lyles Will, I saw your post and thought that I would respond. By the way, that is the first that I have seen that spelling of KUNKEL. (subject line???? *smile*) You forgot to mention Sebastian. Your ancestor Nicolaus (b.1677) was a brother to my ancestor Sebastian. Most all of the early work was not from the late Wally KUNKEL though he had contributed some. You and I also have SHUSTER in common. I can't say that we met before Will. I am always glad to meet a new cousin. Regards, Bob KUNKEL, Genealogist Schuylkill County, PA

    3. Hi Bob and fellow Kunkle rooters, I saw your posting on the email list; have we spoke before? I am a descendant of a (Johann) Sebastian Kunkel (1674 PRU - 1737 PRU), married to Anna SAMER (1677-1743). Then, as follows: son, Hans Johannes (1709-aft 1771); son, Johann Michael (1743 GER - 1796 PA); son, Michael (1779-1866 PA); daughter, Jane Kunkle (1825-?, Westmoreland Co, PA); son, Daniel FISHELL (1855-aft 1920 PA); dau, Minnie Pearl Fishell (1886-1962 Ligonier, PA). Minnie Pearl was my great-grandmother. If anything sounds familiar, please let me know! Thanks, Elizabeth Fleming San Francisco, CA P.S. to WILL: I am interested in your reference (below) to the Fissel Cemetary in York Co, PA, as that is the early name of my FISHELLS who later lived in Westmoreland County. 3. Recently, I found out that my KUNKLE line was originally from BREITENBORN. I couldn't find it on a German map, so I did a search on the internet. What came up was a website for a family named Gobels. The site had pictures of the glass factory in Breitenborn. Even though the Gobels weren't related to the Kunkels, I wrote asking for the exact location of Breitenborn. I mentioned in passing that I was researching the Kunkel family. Well, he wrote me back this morning with a lot of information on the Kunkle family back in Breitenborn, and I want to pass it on. But before I do that, I ask for some help. My gggg grandmother was probably Anna Marie Barbara KUNKEL, wife of John BIXLER. THey married in 1796, most likely in YORK County, PA. Her father was Balzar KUNKEL. If anyone has any information, I would really appreciate it. John and Anna Marie went to VIRGINIA where they had many kids, including my ggg grandmother Sarah Bixler who was born in 1808. Sarah married John RAKER in 1830, most likely in Fairfield County, Ohio. THey then moved on to Fulton County, Ohio, where she died in 1842. Anyway, I'm having trouble confirming that Sarah Bixler was Anne Marie Barbara Kunkel's daughter, and then following on up the line. I'd love some help. It is appearing possible that Anna Maria was the daugther of John Balthazar Kunkel, b. Sept 25, 1742 in York County in PA, and died Aug. 23, 1812. He was the wife of maria Barbara SCHNEIDER and the son of Gottlieb and Christina Barbara Kunkel. Kelly Chaves OK, here's the information on the glassmeisters in Breitenborn: Kunkel is a well-known name, being an old glass-blowers-family in Hessen(Germany). In "Die Spessart-Ordnung von 1406" (Spessart-arrangements of the year 1406) concerning the rules for glass-blowers Fritz Kunkel and Eberhart Kunkel are already mentioned. In 1574 Franz Kunkel was appointed to glasmeister (Glass-master) in Gottorp(?) by Count Adolf von Schleswig-Holstein. His son is mentioned working in a glassfactory in Rendsburg near Hamburg. His grandson, Johann Kunckel von Löwenstein, was born 1630 in Rendsburg and was enobled in Sweden. He was working in the glassfactory "Pfaueninsel" near Potsdam. Around 1653 the glassmaster Nicolas Kunkel moves from Lich (North-east of Frankfurt) to Breitenborn. On the payroll of 1655 of the factory in Breitenborn Henrich Konkel is mentioned. Later a Nicolas Kunkel is mentioned as Glassmaster together with Johann Heinrich Gundelach from Laubach and his father-in-law Heinrich Lissmann. In 1630 Nickel Kunkel is mentioned in Laubach. It is not known for save, he is identical with the Nicolas Kunkel mentioned in Breitenborn. The above is what I know about the Kunkel-family. If you have any more information on the glassmakers-industry in Breitenborn, I am very interested in this. Wim and Joke Göebel,IJsselstein, The Netherlands.
