    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of William KUHNS which was taken at the Otto E. Weber Studio in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with William looking to be in his 40's at the time it was taken. In addition to his name, someone has also written "Betty SHAUB'S Grandfather" on the back of the photograph. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding William and his family: William W. KUHNS was married to May Belle KUHNS and they had a son Donald R. KUHNS. William is buried with his wife and son in the Greenwood Cemetery in Lancaster, PA in a section with the SHAUB Family. Census records provide the following details: 1880 census of Lancaster, PA: William KUHNS, age 33, Works in Foundry, born PA, parents born PA Mary KUHNS, wife, age 28, Keeping House, born PA, parents born PA Mary KUHNS, dau, age 4, born PA I'm hoping to locate someone from this KUHNS Family so that the photograph can be returned to the care of this family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

I've indexed some really obscure entries from local German newspapers for a Jos. Kühns, who received a letter from Graz in 1861; a Peter Kuhns who received a letter from Bacharach in 1865; an 1863 query for a Mathes Kuntz, who received a letter from Gormershelm (these letters were being held at the Milwaukee. Post Office). Also notices for a Christoph Kuntz, from Neckweiler, Prussia (1848); who went missing (relative of Peter); notices in 1857 for a missing John Kuntz, from Ersingen, Schweitz. These are compiled with 100 Kuhns & Kuntz names (as well as Kühns and Küntz) in the collection "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950). According to her death certificate, her father was Alousius Kuhn. Her mother is Kate (Katherine) Schwoyer. Does anyone have an Alousius Kuhn or similar sounding name in their family line from this time? Does anyone know of any illegitimate daughter rumors from the Kuhn/Kuhns lines in Berks County? The closest names I've found are Elias (Hereford) , Augustus, and Lewis (Washington Township) Kuhns. If you could rule any of these out, that would also be helpful. I am attempting to locate ancestry information on a Jacob Kuhn (Kuhns) who is my 5th or 6th great grandfather. Jacob is listed as living in Center Township, Union County, PA. in the 1830 census. Below his name is William (His son, born 1801) and below William is a Christian Kuhns. Also in this area (Center/Centre Penn's Creek) there is a Peter Kuhns, who owned a Grist Mill and was married to a Rebecca Neese. They had a son- John Kuhns, and two daughters- Polly and Sarah I believe (Sarah married a Sampsel) Anyway, I believe Peter is related to my Jacob, as William and Barbara Kuhn are listed in a will from the Penns Creek, which deals with Peter Kuhns I believe.
