    2. DAVID KUHNS
    3. Good evening all! My name is David Kuhns, 62, an Engineer. My great uncle is Ezra Kuhns of Dayton Ohio, whose “Notes on the Kuhns Family” was privately published way back when. Ezra was a lifelong friend of the Wright brothers and their attorney for a time. He was also a lifelong friend of Paul Lawrence Dunbar, the first published American black poet. Dunbar’s “The Heart of Happy Hollow” is dedicated to him. In his spare time, he was chief counsel for NCR in Dayton. To say he had an interesting life is an understatement. I’ve made a few connections to my tree, made mostly during the explosion of the personal computer in the late 80’s. I was very happy to to visit my “home village” in the Sarbrucken region of Germany in 2003. 3. Good afternoon fellow researchers! I have just recently been handed the “ownership” of this List, which I see has just 28 members, including myself. I had hoped to find out a little more about this particular research list before posting online, but I guess the best way for me to learn things is to just ask. So, here goes: 1. A few tidbits about your “list owner” (that’s me). a. I’m 79 years old, retired, and have had a life long interest in genealogy research. b. I live in California, where I spent my adult career in education, primarily high school. c. I am interested in this list because my wife has cousins with this surname. I’d like to find out more about these ancestors. 2. We are told that Ancestry plans to restore all the Archives eventually, but they are working on the “more active” lists first. For this list, I haven’t found any archives yet. Have any of you found them, or shall we just assume that we are more or less starting from scratch on this list? 3. For those of you who remember the lists from a few years ago, your ability to post and receive messages will function nearly the same, although there are some changes, mostly behind the scenes. That is because Ancestry has invested several months of effort into transferring everything over to a new version of the Mailman program. 4. That’s why I’m here: to help when things misbehave and you can’t get things to do what you want or need. Just send a request my way. Please feel free to help get this list back in functioning order. Kuhns, 67, passed away early Friday, June 20, 2014, at his home. He was born Nov. 7, 1946, at home, the son of the late C. Arthur and Hazel Kuhns. Together they have shared nearly 45 years of marriage and their three children, Danielle, Kimberly, and Brian. Gene retired in 2004 as an operator from Alcan Aluminum with 38 years of service. Abraham Mishler Khuns Birth 15 Jul 1851 in Martz, Clay, Indiana, United States Death 26 Apr 1936 in Topeka, Shawnee, Kansas, United States. The picture was a nice hint :) His brother Samuel E Kuhns... Birth 31 Jan 1845 in Bowling Green, Clay, Indiana, USA Death 5 Oct 1923 in Ottumwa, Wapello, Iowa, USA. Is my 2nd great grandfather. There was a sister as well... Barbara who married Henry Seid. There's a rumor that their parents Henry Daniel Kuhns and Veronica Mishler died when these three were young. So now i'm going back through all the info crossing my t's and dotting my I's to make sure that the information I have thus far is actually verifiable information and not guesstimation or assumption. After that I will be on the hunt to see if i can find where these three went from preteen and adolescence to adulthood. The rumor is that between 1850 and 1860 the parents died so seeing as how the oldest one is only 15 in 1860 then they must have went to a relative. I read something on a web site that said Abraham went to Peoria Illinois when he was a young boy but haven't found anything there yet, or a source for that info either.
