    3. "The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Wednesday, January 29, 1913 IT'S A FRIENDSHIP BUREAU. Are you lonesome, young man, or young woman? You need not be. Send your name and address -- or better, call at Swope Social Center, 1610 Campbell Street, and Dr. Mary ANDREWS, or one of her assistants, will see that you meet attractive companions. "Old-Fashioned Girl" and "Home Loving Young Man," who have written letters to The Star, and others like them, especially will be welcomed by Doctor ANDREWS. But there is room for all. You must fulfill only one requirement. The social center authorities must be convinced of your good character and sincerity. "We want every lonesome boy and girl, young man and young woman in Kansas City to let us help them form proper acquaintances," said Doctor ANDREWS last night. "Tell them to come to us. If there are those who for any reason cannot come here, tell them to telephone us or send us word and a representative of the Swope Center will call on them." And there is the chance, too, that some of those who go to the Swope Center will become interested in its philanthropic work. This work furnishes a variety of employment for willing hands, and, as anyone who ever tried it will tell you, is an excellent cure in itself for lonesomeness. ====================================================== (I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) johnobrien@kc.rr.com ======================================================
