My personal connection to Wyandotte County, Kansas, is minimal. I went to a meeting at the University of Kansas in summer 2000, flew into and out of the airport in Kansas City, Missouri, and so drove through or around Kansas City, Kansas. BUT, I'm the "convener" of the Van Scoy-Knapp reunion of descendants of four related couples who lived in Huron County, Ohio, in the first half of the 1800s. (I was born and grew up there.) Abraham VAN SCOY (1788 NY - 1849 OH) and his wife Mary KNAPP (1795 NY - 1883 OH) (my great(3)-grandparents) had 13 children. Their oldest child, Sally Ann (1812 NY - ?) married James DURY (1799 - 1848 OH) in 1832 in Huron County, Ohio. They had 5 children, one of whom was Ceylon Sherman Dury (b 1842 in Ohio, alive in Arkansas in 1930). Ceylon Sherman Dury married in 1861 in Hillsdale County, Michigan, Matilda Jane MERCER (1845-1930). Ceylon Sherman Dury and his wife Matilda Jane Mercer lived in several states, as recorded in the US census. 1870 Fulton County, Ohio 1880 Huron County, Ohio (with his widowed mother) 1900 ? 1910 Kansas City, Wyandotte County, Kansas 1920 Gentry, Benton County, Arkansas 1930 Gentry, Benton County, Arkansas They had four children: Francis A.
