Hi, I am new to the list, but not new to genealogy. I have a week off work, so thought I'd join and read the archives to see if anything connected to my research turns up. My name is Judy. I live in Southern Oregon. My gggrandfather, Robert Henry NEWTON settled in Atchison Co., in 1855. His son, Periander C. NEWTON left home in 1861 to train as a doctor. In 1869 Periander settled in Piper and started a family. Eventually his parents came to live with him later in their lives. They are all buried there. I would hope that I can share some of my research with anyone interested and perhaps learn something about the neighborhood (as I've never been there). For example, saying "my grandfather lived in KC" will not get much of a response but saying "my grandfather, John O'Brien, lived in Argentine in the 1920s" might produce a result. It's up to you how specific you want to be. There is, of course, no requirement that you participate.
