One that so many of us enjoyed, and for so many many years, was The Italian Gardens. I can close my eyes and see and almost taste their food right now. Does anyone remember the name of the drug store on the northeast corner of 12th & Grand...it was something like Bernies. That was a meeting place for a lot of us. All these places that we could "meet and eat" and it didn't cost us very much. I remember getting off work one summer day when I was working in the Argyle Building for Dr. Petry (sp) and Dr. Schauffler I went shopping and stopped by Bernies for a coke refresher and then discovered I didn't have the dime for the bus ride home.
