W. SEEK, 1053 Splitlog Avenue, Kansas side. Since 1877, when she began teaching in the little frame school- house in "The Bottoms," where the Wood Street School now stands, she had been almost constantly a teacher in the third and fourth grades of the public schools in Wyandotte County. She taught in old Central School, Everett School and Armstrong School in the early days of the public school system. She had been in charge of the second grade at the Longfellow School the last ten years. With the exception of twelve years, she had taught continuously in schools on the Kansas side since 1877. Mrs. STEVENS was past matron of Mendias Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and for forty years had been active in the work of the Masonic auxiliary. When a girl, Mrs. STEVENS made her home with the family of W. P. OVERTON, a Wyandotte County pioneer, and spent the greater part of her girlhood in old Wyandotte. She was 59 years old. She is survived by her husband, Arthur STEVENS; a son, Hiram O. STEVENS and two brothers, William O'BRIEN of Riley, Kas., and J. E. O'BRIEN of Miami, Ok.
