My name is Cindy Weston?& I live in St. Michael, MN (26 miles nw of Mpls) where I am a city councilwoman.? Most of my family lines have been here since before the Revolutionary War.? The Lawhorn line of my family came from Virginia to Kentucky where they left for Illinois in the early 1800's (family rumor says they were friends of & travelled with the Lincoln's and the Grants).?? My gggg?grandmother, Sarah Hickman Lawhorn?was a heroine in the Blackhawk Indian Wars, and after the wars, their children started to move to the Kansas City, KS & MO area. One of the things I was originally looking for was the location of my gg grandmother's grave (Dicy Doranah (Lawhorn) Van Asten).? I have now confirmed that she was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in 1914 but I haven't been able to locate any records of the actual site.? I had hoped someday to put a marker there.? She is the only family member there as the rest of the family is in Machpelah Cemetery in Liberty, MO and her husband and child/grandchild are in Oklahoma City.? I was there with my great grandmother when I was in my teens (many years ago) but I haven't had much luck in finding the exact plot.? My great grandmother Anna Maria Van Asten (Moore) was married in Kansas City and I would love someday to see if their old homes are still even there - yes I do have the addresses.??My great grandfather, Frank Adelbert Moore was?living in Lawrence, KS just before they were married and I have some family photos that I contributed to the historical society (parades down Massachusset! ts Ave, etc).? Quite a few of the Moore side of the family are buried in the cemetery there. John-thank you for your dedication to this site.? I can only imagine the amount of time you contribute to helping us out here that don't have easy access to some of the answers we seek.? You are truly appreciated!
